Today(23-may-2011) at 3 .30 PM I saw around 50 XPS L702x are available starting from price £455(inc VAT+Delivery). These prices keep vary due to high demand, so you may not see the systems available for £455 after few hours(sold out). These are not appearing from main page where we can select XPS 17. But they are appearing when we go to all laptops and then search in the results. In the left hand side, select 17 inch and sort the price low-high at the top.

Cheapest found is £379.85 excl VAT. £455 inc VAT. Today Delivery is free.

says EXCLUDING vat and delivery ... is there another way of getting to include the vat and delivery in the total?

Range: £455.33 - £523.72
Price excl. VAT and delivery

Problem with the site - not letting you add system to cart.
Suspect Dell have mispriced many of these systems and have disabled their Cart!

I think these may be listed by mistake/error.

These are Refurbished and "Scratch and Dent" deals.

Emm - that's what Dell Outlet sell - in case you didn't know!

So basically with VAT & Delivery the price is:
£546.40 (for a scratched up dented one) to £628.46 (for a refurbished one)

Not a good deal at all

455 including VAT + Delivery for Scratch & Dent . But anyway it seems problem with the cart, so not a deal atleast now.

Bit of a beast of a laptop!

Emm - that's what Dell Outlet sell - in case you didn't know!

This is not true. They also sell "Pre-configured New" - in case you didn't know!

Just picked up one that specs at £1750 for just over £700...not scratch and dent either.

I'm using an XPS L702x right now and it's a beast of a machine!

ordered one described as having dent or scratch (because of the good price).

What graphics cards do these standardly come with? looking on the system details doesn't seem to offer up any confirmation?

Original Poster

I think 1 gb graphics is standard (by looking at dmx dimension deals). If u r lucky may get 2gb, but no way to find out sadly.

from new builds looks like i7 gets geforce 555m and all others get 550m
perhaps not but was set in a similar way with previous gen

I assume the 1080 screens will be the 3d version as the UK still doesnt have the 1080 non 3d model yet. Im tempted but the warranty of only a year on a refurb on this price point is a worry, even with a dell. Anyone know how to get a longer warranty option on these at all?

Is that £695 plus vat or all in

The cheapest way is usually to contact them after you have purchased it. You can upgrade the warranty anytime up to roughly 4 weeks after the initial warranty period has expired.

Before VAT I imagine judging by the prices I’ve seen unless it’s a Scratch and Dent!
I just bought the same spec but with 4GB of RAM for £617 before VAT.

That price doesn't include VAT, it was £8xx all in. Still a good deal?

Yes.

These machines are being offered at a great price. The more expensive ones (£800+) have a good spec, but may be a bit expensive. The lower priced I3/I5 models at around £500 are a bit of a steal. Nice lappies

Hey guys, I heard an interview from a pc proffesional quite high up who said that refurbs were actually more reliable than others because of all the tests they go through that off the shelf laptops simply are not put through... One year warranty is standard...

hottt... i have no funds for it though

By my experience that is simply not true. I have ordered more than 10 systems since January - about half have had issues - now Dell do sort things out in the end but that proves to me that although bargains are to be had - be prepared for some hassle.

It's up to you if you think that some hassle is worth the bargain.

Here's some examples ...

3 systems returned and refunded due to bad screens
1 noisy HDD replaced
4 DW1501 Wireless cards replaced by Intel 6200 cards
Missing keyboard fixing screw - 1 system
Missing rubber screw tops - 2 systems
1 keyboard replaced - bad shift key

Some tips -

1. Get friendly with the Dell service personel and you can negotiate some good deals on extended warranty eg £114 for 4 Year NBD on N5010 systems
2. Always be polite and persistent and you will get what you want - it took several calls to get Dell to send me replacement wireless cards for the awfull DW1501 ones.

Just ordered this for £611 delivered, please tell me its a good deal, bit new to Dell Outlet priced it up on the Dell website and comes to £960 delivered new

Scratch and Dent

Anybody has this tell me if it comes with the secondary HDD fixings or not, hopefully be sticking my 120gb SSD into it but I need a secondary HDD for all my files.

BTW never had any problems with the outlet stuff - always top quality backed up by good support for both refurbs and scratch and dents.

That's reasonable, I got similar, 8GB RAM, lesser 1000 WLAN and blue ray for £830 refurb so its a reasonable saving over that for risking scratch and dent.

Yes the 2nd hdd fixings will be there, you just need phillips screwdrivers
