I don't know very much about laptops but I thought this was a good deal. was orginally going to get the discount ASUS laptop you get if you get a Natwest student account, but I think this is good as it has 4gb ram and a extended battery which is free somehow. Make sure you apply the voucher. You could also use Quidco

Added a design, fingerprint reader, extended battery and bluetooth mouse for this price. You can add other things to get to £700 so you can use the voucher, the things I chose don't really add to performance, they just are tiny extras. Get rid of my extras except for the battery and get a Bluray drive for a total of £665.11

It also seems that the battery upgrade is free on all studio laptops which is a good deal, whereas the promotions section doesn't mention it. I think it is a mistake.

reports also say thet the processing power is'nt really good enough for the Blue-ray

But I think that it's a good deal without the bluray. You can add what you want to make the total £700. Or if you want the bluray you could upgrade the processor but I'm sure the 8100 will cope. Dell are selling bluray with worse processors

I think they have a shortage of 6 cell batteries so are enticing people with a free upgrade to a 9 cell.

If my AMD X2-3800 can cope with rendering 1080 HD from disk, then I'm sure a new processor like this can! Most of the decoding is assisted by the graphics card anyway, which will easily manage. 1280x800 seems rather mean, and even a £90 upgrade only gets you 1440x900, some way short of 1080!
