Do you know of any better deals for laptops?

Just had email similar to above Ram 3gb, HD 250, graphics 256 for £499.

I would call the 499 deal better per pound, but only if you have need for those three. The larger HD, more RAM and bluetooth as single add-ons definitely add up to that difference, but also, upgrading those things on your own will also cost about 50 quid, so having it come with them already done is a bonus.

However, after a LOT of deliberation, I ended up getting an Acer 5920G recently from Simply Acer

It's not quite as much RAM as the 499 deal and it doesn't have the Dell name, which I personally highly value, but with the T7300 cpu, I recon it's worth the difference. Also, the dedicated gfx card in the acer is a bit better, which I liked and they were offering free next day delivery.

Edit:
Well, my wife just got off the phone with the sales people form simplyacer and I can say that I won't be ordering from them...I don't care if they have free next day shipping. She said that they were very abrupt with her and when she tried to query me via MSN Messenger about the card that I used to pay for the system they said they wouldn't just hold and that I would have to just place the order again. If someone wants me to spend my money at their shop, they ought to treat me better than that. Amazon has the exact same system at the same price...I'll go through them, thank you. I don't care if I have to wait an extra week now.

Instead, I found that Play.com have the same machine, refurbished, via their PlayTrader program (play.com/PC/…b=0)
I'm a little concerned about getting a refurbished laptop, but for a 70 quid saving, I'll give it a go. It states that it comes with the full 1 year Acer warranty, so it should be ok.
