My last posting of a refurb Studio 17 for £299 was voted cold. Ppl here obviously do not know what the difference between the Inspiron and the Studio is. So expect a cold vote.

what is the difference?

what is the difference?

case design, more ports available on the Studio (no firewire or cardbus slot on the inspirons) and more upgrade options.

Can't fault the specs, good CPU, plenty of RAM, good graphics, nice screen - only thing this lacks is bluray.

The Studio has a better graphics card and an HDMI port, among the other amenities already mentioned. Also a reportedly sturdier case, and I can tell you that is the one thing we fault in our Inspiron -- it's very flimsy. Well, that and the graphics card isn't ideal for gaming, but we didn't plan on using the Inspiron for that much anyhow. As it turns out, we don't use it for that at all after hubby gave it a go and didn't like what he found on the one game he really wanted to play.

yep, pretty much like every other laptop unless you buy a business class one.

Good to know, thanks! I'm debating whether the Studio 17 is worth the extra money for me, not so sure. Though if you add on the hdmi, better screen etc to the Inspiron 15, I think it gets to about this price anyway. I'm going to get complete warranty whichever one I get, so the flimsiness isn't too terrible an issue. But in this debate before, someone stated that the Studio had a much better case than the Inspiron -- guess I won't figure that into my decision at all.
