I have been looking for a notebook with such performance, and this is the cheapest I've found. A bit on the heavy side with 17", but I will only be traveling with it occasionally a few times a year.

Intel P8400 (2.26 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 3 MB L2 cache)

4096MB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x2048]

Video Card:
256MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3650

Hard Drive:
320GB (5.400rpm) SATA Hard Drive

2.0 Mega pixel Integrated Web Camera - LED

17.0" Widescreen WXGA+ WLED (1440x900) TFT with TrueLife

That size, and weighing in at at least 3.6kgs, it's not really portable is it? OK if you go everywhere by car but you wouldn't want to take it anywhere far on foot or on a flight.

Seems like a good deal to me!

I'm looking for the 15 inch version of this (same spec) and was quoted £570. Where did you find this deal?

I have a 17" laptop and travel all over the place with it, it's like anything that seems weird at first, you get used to it, I will be buying another 17" next year sometime I wouldn't want anything less now... apart from maybe a netbook as well....

Should also add this is below the current e-value codes which quotes £629.

Where did you find the 570 one? I'm quoted £655.53 for same 15" specs but with 2 years service (which is still a good deal).
To get the 17" deal, just go through the page normally, and DONT use they Days of Deals link. Of the 4 pre-configured Studio 17 systems, choose the one before the last with 1-year service.
Use the attached 5% voucher.

I do not think this price is anything special.

I paid £75 extra and got a machine with pretty much the same spec apart from a better graphics card, 9600m GT and blu-ray player. So my opinion if you can get for this price it pretty much what you should be paying.

The £570 was on the phone using the code for the £499 system on the dell website then upgrading the processor etc. Now they are charging for delivery it might be difficult to get this price - but can try giving them a call.
