Here's one customer review:

#Pros
-Small
-Capable for office use
-Well chosen connections: good set of modern connections (only e-sata missing), no legacy ports

#Cons
-Uses old integrated chipset, not new GM45 (X4500). Won't hardware-decode HD video. Vista aero will be fairly smooth but not perfectly so. Inadequate for casual gaming.

#Additional Thoughts
A decent office computer with a good design and small form-factor, rare in the PC world. Somewhat pricey for what you get.
It has a fan and I don't know how often it will come on or how loud it will be.
I give it 4* because of its promise. With Intel's new GM45 chipset it would instantly become an excellent all-round PC and could be used as an HTPC (and for casual gaming). Hopefully we will see a new model soon.

Transform your style

Go green without cramping your style. With the Studio Hybrid, personalization is easy with 6 interchangeable color sleeves or also one in bamboo. Now the only problem you face is picking out which color is right for you.

Link doesnt work, expensive and no where in the press does dell state the spec...

As such voting cold.

Bamboo is £120 extra!

Must say these look lovely. A bit overpriced, but they have only just been released a few days ago. Compared to say a mac mini this are pretty good value.

Will pick one up when a special offer comes around. Makes my big black box look prehistoric.

:w00t:

Well...if I had the money for an ultra modern apartment...I'd pay it anyway

But I dont...so unlucky Dell..yuour not ripping me off

Other colours are £29.00.

So if these dont hardware decode HD then how well do they software decode?

Expensive and no scope for upgrades.

I'm sure there are more powerful laptops these days than these! And then you can upgrade RAM and HDD at least...

for £399 i would rather have the mac mini,
ok the dell as hdmi on it and also looks like a built in tv card.
but having leopard as the OSX far outways the dell extras
and vista is POOR!!!!

I think this is a great idea for specific market. Someone who wants a computer attached to a living room LCD without having a full desktop sitting in their living room. For that purpose it looks great and is a reasonable spec and you can customise the spec when buying. For what it is for and its good looks it is a good price. Probably won't be long before they throw in a built in Freeview decoder and remote. Its the nicest design/innovation to come from a Wintel manufacturer in years. Now if only it could run Mac OSX...

voted hot simply because it looks so good!

Fixed link now...

Can't see how this PC will be able to decode the codecs used by Blu-ray (or HD-DVD). I think it will needs a more powerful graphics card. So until more powerful graphics chips can be included on a motherboard that this case can take I don't think they are worth buying. I don't know for sure but I suspect that the Mac-mini would have the same issue...

However the dell site does offer a blu-ray option but I couldn't see what, if any, software is included to allow playback of blu-ray films etc.

I have to say I really like the idea of this but very much put off by the price, how they have taken laptop parts and made it more expensive without a screen and many of the other components is beyond me. How do you get the 399 pound price?

I've been trying out the Asus PX24 (review here forum.techpond.co.uk/vie…452) which is more in the right direction at 300 pounds and it has full decode assist on the graphics card which works extremely well but it does lack power for general purpose tasks.

That looks damn ugly in comparison. I'd rather spend the extra and have something I wouldn't have to hide. Can someone lend me £600? Thanks
