By £2, I chose not to over that amount, saves confusion on bank charges.

It's £68.18 without convertor.

You should say " Cheaper by paying in euros " ...anyway i am a bit slow but i understood what you meant. What about the UK banks...are they not gonna add any other charges?

Thats what I am saying mate, for the sake of £2 I just left it at the GBP price.

If your not too scared of ordering from china there is a £65 tablet with 2GB of RAM (I've ordered one) Search 'chuwi vi8' on Aliexpress. I did try to post a deal but they took it down

Is memory 2 or 1 gb?

I have the older version of this with 64GB storage and 2GB of RAM and although its fast, Windows 8.1 is awful, its no where near as usable as my Nexus 7 or iPad.

The price is good but i fear the downgrade to 1GB RAM will make it a more painful experience.

I plan to give Windows 10 a go but will probably wait for the free upgrade.

Its the new version so its 1GB.

Out of curiosity, what makes you say it is horrible?

Really can't understand what do you expect for £70. the nexus was 3 times more expensive, the ipad 6 times, what's your point here, mate? trolling?

Its just not very touch friendly, the vast majority of apps require you to go into desktop mode which is very fiddly on a 8 inch tablet.

Its just not as slick an experience as OSs made for touch from tge ground up.

Windows 10 may help with this, if so it might be a decent buy. Although the 1GB RAM worrys me with Windows, even 2GB isnt great.

Hardly trolling, I have a better version and it sits gathering dust, and for your information im comparing it to a 2012 Nexus 7 and an iPad 2.

Yes this is £70 but imo its £70 for a reason, you would be better off with a cheap Android tablet.

I was initially attracted because i thought it was the best of both worlds, full desktop OS with the benefits of a tablet but it ended up being poor at both.

I thought that would probably be your issue with the OS. It was mine for a while...then I found this;

It makes the desktop entirely usable. I hope it helps!

In all this not 1 person (the OP included ..... ) have bothered to mention the 'Internal GB' Memory of this device? .. yes it has 1GB RAM?, but what else ..... :-(

Thanx. :-)

well, I knew you were talking about the nexus 2012, £199, 3 times more expensive, and the ipad 2, $399, 6 times more expensive, can you deny that? I had them both, sold desperate for peanuts as they were totally unusable after just one year use. I have now a galaxy notepro, superb, an lg 8.3, still good, and a lenovo 7 with win8 bought @£50 last christmas, which is slow but ok for basic things. so again, where is your point? this is a deal site not a review site based on subjective taste, if you find something cheaper than usual, even if you think it's s$@t, that's a deal, and the whole point in being here.

Well, I have the standard 32GB older version with 2GB RAM. It has been very practical and useful for me. Though as a disclaimer, I am pretty comfortable and happy with 8.1 compared to many others. Personally, I would be a bit concerned with 1GB RAM, I simply feel that is too low, but I don't know what it will feel like to you. Perhaps its worth putting another £30 on top for theMiix3.

Interesting, I will certainly give a go and see how i get in, it would be good to actually make use of it.

And how did you know what devices i meant' exactly? I could have been talking about any ipad or nexus 7. Also you compare the RRP of devices that are 3 years old which i didnt even pay back then, its hardly relevant.

Anyway it's my personal opinion, if you dont like it, tough!

Yes its a deal site and i dont think its worth £70, so IMO not a deal. i didnt actually vote cold, i just dont think its hot.

Personally, I wouldn't vote this hot either --- and I am a fan of Windows 8.1 (and Windows Phone!).
No HDMI is a crime, as was their decision to drop this from 2GB to 1GB. Too many compromises for me.

Maybe so - but Oola was accusing Gormond of trolling simply because he/she said this Dell isn't much cop. Having used lots of these Windows 8.1 tablets, I feel I am pretty well placed to back Gormond up.
Also, I know you posted the deal, but don't get too attached to it. Tablets like this would be better off staying on the shelves.

Same. Loving the one I use (2GB RAM, 64GB, WWAN version). For the work I do I definitely appreciate the Venue Pro.
As for RAM requirements, judging how Microsoft has increased the efficiency of it's operating systems after Win7 due to having tablets in mind, I wouldn't be surprised if Windows 10 turns out to be more RAM-friendly than 8.1. A 1GB limit may turn out to be less of an issue in the near future than in the present for general computer use.

You shouldn't be so protective of the deals you post. The criticism on this Venue 8 Pro variant IS valid.

More importantly, and with reference to post #29, youtube.com/wat…7m4

People are also forgetting here that you get a year of 365 which includes 1TB of OneDrive storage.

If you have a use for Windows on the go this is excellent.

I've trialled a number of Linx tablets at work all with 1GB RAM and to be honest they cope very well in most cases.

i have experience with a linx8, which is to all intents and purposes identical hardware, and while it does have some odd hangs/slows when loading or multitask switching it's surprisingly capable and is perfect for most strategy/story type games, steam & hearthstone (i can run xcom fine, plus many other games, only gripe is mousing over/rightclicking is fiddly on touchscreen)

as for win8, it's a bit of a dog and still really badly designed for tablets - missing so many options in power saving & touchscreen options and the tablet drains batters stupidly fast on standby unless you google the "connected standby" fix.

don;t get hung up on the 1gb thing - if you want an 8inch tablet that runs PC programs £70 is a great price and they manage to impress with how capable they are. if you don;t want pc programs get an android tablet, they are hugely more accessible, longer battery life and handle social media, touch games (and touch everything) and common tasks like youtube/movies far better for the price.

You can sell the office license on ebay for up to £40. When using a browser to activate office you can find a 20 digit code in the address bar before proceeding to accept the license and this can be sold. Makes the tablet about £35 now after fees!
Used same trick with some linx tablets I bought late last year.

If you got one...use a post office credit card....no bank charges

I had the 1st gen model and if it weren't for the lack of HDMI-out (killer featue for me - makes it a very portable PC), I'd still have it now
Really good build quility and surprising performance.

I tried the Toshiba WT8 but it was too bulky and unstable so now I'm happily using the Linx 8 (albeit with just 1GB RAM).
I suspect that this will be akin to the Linx 8 experience, without HDMI-out but better built.
Heated

I would go for a refurb old one from mcscom.co.uk/sho…ice or the Dell outlet as 1gb will be a real issue in any real usage
