Remember to reduce the warranty to minimum where applicable and take all Dell deals right through to checkout for final pricing.

If anyone is still looking for a Vostro 1510 this appears to be the best deal this week. Select Vista Premium and 256meg graphics and the 90watt psu. Downfall is that dell want an arm and leg to upgrade the ram so buy as is, the dedicated graphics ram means more available for system use so it may be fine with just 1 gig. If not swop out 1 strip for 2gig from elseware.

Thats quick to get into production, mines still in Pre-Production, normally takes a little while in it doesn't it?

MikeT,

What happened to the promotion of a 2GB 1510 for £292 that I was watching (wanting to order today). Even the UKHD thread has been removed! I asked in that thread when the offer ended and I was told the 25th June - come to order today and no sign??!

paulus

Alas, in that thread I asked when the offer ended (page 22) and was answered with June 26th (page 23). I guess you should never believe what you see?!

thats what i thought

lukewarm

I bought a vostro 1400 for myself and a 1510 for a family member from previous deals, the 1400 is rock solid, but the build quality of the 1510 is nowhere near as good, seems very flimsy.

Works fine though !

To anyone who might help: Is there a way to avoid paying VAT when ordering for professional use(for a small company for e.g.)?

This basic ecode is £329 delivered but if you look at the first post you will see I have added value by upgrading the OS to premium and the graphics to 256meg. Most of the cost of these upgrades is removed at checkout as free delivery kicks in so for £22 over the basic cost you get the upgrades.

How does this laptop with these specs, compare to the Inspiron XPS M1530?

Vagelis, if your company is VAT registered you could buy the laptop as a company asset and reclaim the VAT on your next return.

Tax man will also give you 100% of the value as a writing down allowance on your corporate or personal tax.

If you are not VAT registered though, you can't get this back (and it's probably not a good idea to register just for this as you'll then have to charge 17.5% on top of your current prices in output VAT).

Not bad...good find Mike! :-D
