Sorry but I dont follow the business notebook prices so your guess is as good as mine.

How come I can't find vostros from the Dell page?

Because you're searching via the home user section. Look via the business section. Be warned though, buying as a business does lose you various consumer rights.

Just wondering, are there any other e-value codes for Vostro laptops in the home user section? I can't even find the posted offer independently by browsing the dell site.

Use the ecode finder boxes on the home site to find this deal if going via quidco.

ecode is 305-N0615109

I'm still stumped as to how u found an e-value code for vostros for home users. I'd be interested to see if there are any 1710s in the home section and their prices.

That laptop has faster processor and 2Gb ram and Vista Ultimate but this one has far superior graphics card and larger hard drive probably better built too.
I would personally go for the Vostro.

DSA regulations regarding the cooling-off period go, as does the bit about satisfactory quality. If you buy via the business section and the system arrives in poor condition, it's a breach of warranty, not the SoG act.

There's probably other stuff too, if you google around. My advice though, phone the sales line, state that you're a private buyer, and ask for a Vostro. Tell them about Quidco too to get your discount knocked off. Best of both worlds, that way - cheap, plus decent consumer rights.
