No I dont atm, sorry. You could of course order with Vista and instal XP yourself, that way you have a Vista licence for future use (xp drivers for vostro are on dell USA site if not on UK)

If you upgrade to Vista Business, then Microsoft will currently allow you to downgrade to XP Pro. You give them the Vista code, and they'll validate your XP installation. Hardly perfect, but it does mean that if you ever decide to go Vista, you'll have a valid Vista COA for the installation.

Thanks for the advice from both of you.

I went for the 1720 yesterday and have recieved an expected delivery date of 1st Feb!!
Cant say I really want to wait that long..
I wonder if its worth phoning to see if they can convince me not to cancel the order :whistling:
Anyone tried this in the past?

yes ring them up... I did this when i bought a vostro 1500 in august... estimated time was end of september after i had purchased it... in august it said 5 of sept.. I rang them up and said I needed the laptop asap or I would have to cancel the order... and strange enough I had the laptop 3 days later

Dell are always conservative with delivery dates, most times the kits with you in a week or less from order. Some takes longer but has warnings in the build pages to tell you.

Hi, I just bought this notebook and am really pleased with spec for the price. Just really annoyed at myself though and i realised after paying for it, that i forgot to go through quidco:(
caz

could someone let me know if this is a decent processor?

tx

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T5270 (1.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2-cache) [add £40.00 or £17/month1]
Add this option and it removes the £60 delivery so effectively an extra £28 for a Core2Duo processor, making it £379 delivered.
Alternatively add the bigger 160GB Hard Drive for no extra cost, as it is £299 before VAT making it allowable for free delivery! £351 delivered.
:-D

Yeah happened to me last week when I ordered a microSD. Bad luck I suppose.

Oh my. Vista with only 1Gb memory. Cheap price for a laptop with a decent screen, but don't expect to be able to run the latest apps or even for it to run very quickly :lazy:

price is comming as 539.40 as soon as i click on link(go to deal)
y????????
£351 excluding VAT ??

now showing £387???

I can't believe the number of people who don't read MikeT's instructions. TAKE THE ORDER ALL THE WAY THROUGH TO CHECK OUT. Then look at the price.

Every time MikeT submits a deal with the instructions he finds himself banging his head against a wall and repeating himself. MikeT you must have the patience of a saint. By the way all these Dell deals are very much appreciated thank you.

P.S. sorry advance - I'm not having a go directly at you, apologies. Just using you as an example I suppose.

you need to follow Mikes instructions including the bit about upgrading the screen to acheive the price of £351.33 and of course select the base warranty.
