I have noticed a few members upgrading the cpu on D09V03 and changing the OS and think that for those upgrading this will be a better solution as it comes with 2.33Ghz cpu, Vista Business and a card reader.
I would spec it up like this if I were buying for £326.72

Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Processor (2.33GHz,1333MHz,4MB cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Business - English
2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]
320GB (7200rpm) Serial ATA/100 Hard Drive with 16MB DataBurst cache
512MB nVidia GeForce 8300GS Turbocache graphics card
Logitech Cordless Desktop EX110 - UK/Irish
13-in-1 Media Card Reader
16x DVD +/- RW Drive

Great price.

Really want to get one, but holding out until next year when i move and can actually find a place for it!

I thought there would be no new Dell deals until next Thursday. What happened?

This isnt new, just me playing with numbers ;-)

Dell actually dropped a few from the ecode list today and repriced several but nothing worth posting.

No new Quad deals?
thanks

A great deal. Would have been far better for me if the graphics card has an upgrade option to the 8600GT or removed altogether! The bios is locked down which means that one cannot overclock the CPU, which is very clockable, to even better value. Nevertheless it is fantastic bargain for those not so technically demanding or savvy.

Vostro 400 range has the 8600GT bit the price hike make it not the best option hotukdeals.com/for…621

No new Quad deals either, the dimension 9200 is missing from the lineup today:-(

I notice Vostros have been designed with small businesses in mind (although still suitable for home users too).

The Base Warranty says "1 Year Business Hardware Support"

For a home user how does this differ from the "1 Year Base Warranty - Collect & Return" offerred with dell "home user" PCs

which version of vista should you go for? business or home?

With 1 Year Business Hardware Support you get:
In the event of a problem that cannot be resolved by phone-based troubleshooting, we will send a Dell-certified technician directly to your premises, for timely and convenient PC repairs.

The graphics card in this is the turbocache version - that's turbocache meaning very slow because it shares the system mainboard memory via the PCI-e slot, which forms a bottleneck. You would probably need to upgrade the graphics card, but it's usually cheaper to do that by buying elsewhere, rather than through Dell.

I got a leaflet through the post from dell the other day. I know you've got to add the £60 delivery and the VAT on here, but with the 19" monitor its £229 without VAT or £60 delivery. Type in the e value code DMUK4-D09V03

Hi mike, as the resident dell expert, what do you think of deal NPUK9-D09507, on offer till 12/9/07??, any better deals around....cheers

Low speed ram, poor graphics card, poor processor, and about £100 overpriced, dell fail again.

Is the Inspiron worth £167 more? OK it has a better graphics card some more h/drive space and premium instead of business. The Vostro should have a better warranty.
Anyone buying for gaming will no doubt change the grapics sooner or later for their choice so the cheapset solution is prob the best.

I asked Dell for an alternative graphics card but I was too late- they had despatched it very quickly. They did however offer to give me £35+ VAT refund and said I did not have to return the included card! :w00t: (Maybe it's because I complained about being passed from pillar-to-post by their telephone advisors who can't understand Yorkshire speak.)

I am very impressed with the system- mine has a 2.00 ghz processor but it still is a huge upgrade for less than £200 (no monitor needed). Sure, there will always be hardcore-techies out there who will scoff at the inflexibility of the set-up but for a lot of people who don't want to spend a small fortune, trying to keep up with the cutting edge of capability this is an incredible offer.

is this deal better value than the other vostro 200 deal:
