Any deals on the slimline version?

Cycle for cyle, how much slower are the Dual-Cores compared to the Core 2s?

Bought one of these about a month ago and can't fault it. Good performance. I upgraded the video card though (decent ones can be had for under £20 - not for serious gaming though)

What's Vista business like? Tempted to get this for my parents, but not if it's missing some key functionality

Cheers

You don't get the Media Centre with Vista Business, not worth upgrading to Ultimate for unless you really must have it!

Is it just me or is the Dell Store not loading at the moment?

I've got this PC with vista business. There's nothing I miss (but I'm moving from XP). Besides, if there's a functionality you might miss in vista ultimate, I'm sure you could get some 3rd party application that reproduces the functionality.

I get a page error on the Dell site when clicking Go to deal and cannot click any links on the Dell page. Tried both IE7 and FF3.

Anyone else having problems?

Edit - seems fine now, pages are loading on the whole site much quicker too.

Do I have to go through this link for the deal? Ive tried finding it via the Dell homepage but cannot. Ive found a section where I can search via an E-code number, but cannot see that in the description?

Would also like to go through Quidco if possible, but again cannot via the direct link.

site not loading for me

is this good for serious gaming?

serious gaming?

Oxymoron

Looks a hot deal to me - going to order it - thanks OP !

I am looking to replace my rather slow 6 year old PC, this looks a value puchase as i only do basic stuff (no gaming other than Poker!).
Should I go for the XP option wiith later upgrade as i have no experience of Vista and have heard various opinions.
All views gratefully received

I loaded it and errors then shut down and tried again and ok

Dell have been having problems with the site for a couple of days now, keep trying and you will get there eventually. I will remind you that these are last months deals which shouldnt be there now so get in while you can as the November deals are more expensive.

Anyone know where to dinf the shop by evalue code link on the dell site? Can't find it anywhere and my connection si slow

Found it but it's taking forever to load the page once the evalue code was put in. Screw three mobile internet, it's ********.

How much should this normally be MikeT?

£237 with just 2gig of ram is the current deal, so a saving and extra ram on this one.

Once the first page has loaded, choose list view at the top left of the screen. It gives less chance for the Javascript to go wrong.

Yea. No point in Vista. It will be dead soon, with Windows 7 on the horizon earlier than expected. XP is an old dog that just works prefectly, imo. Long live XP. Do better next time, Microshaft.

*sigh* Windows 7 won't be changed very much from it's Vista roots and it will only be very slightly different. People who are pinning their hopes on Windows 7 being hugely different to Vista are going to be sorely disappointed. You will still need a decent graphics card and at least 2gb of RAM to run Windows 7 properly.....

XP is far less useable for most people and involves much more work to do anything yet people still love it.... what gives?

Thanks Mike!!! I didn't really need another but ordered one anyway.

Mike T you do a grand job here with the Dell posts. I purchased one. Now looking for a good laptop dell for a gift for my sister. Any good finds would be greatly appreciated.

Is it just me, or does anybody feel nervous about ordering from a computer company that has one of the slowest and most error prone websites known to man? :?

Still a hot deal if the site ever loads....

Asus make good stuff and their site is without a doubt the slowest site in the world when it comes to trying to get into the support section.

Does anyone know whether Dell would deliver to the Netherlands or is it UK only? Thanks.

Haha, did this and it still comes up with Error on Page!! :?

Heat & rep added. I went for 4Gb of RAM and it came to £296-10 inc VAT & delivery. Bargain!

Carley;3516011

I can't get it lower than £225.60?

Carley
I would presume that means you have added the XP option at a cost of £11.75 as per Mikes origonal post.

There is no point in 4GB RAM for Vista as it only uses 3GB also £83 for an extra GB sounds a bit extortionate.

Great deal - want to buy one but the site just keeps timing out :x

This deals seems great! Really tempted to order one....
Does anyone know if Dell supply the XP and Vista discs incase a reinstall is ever required?

Cheers dude! Have some rep

Trying to order but gets to the first page and wont let me continue. So i keep clicking go to next component and nothing happens lol. Error on page on the bottom. Switching to list view doesnt seem to get a reaction either.

Tried with the latest version of Mozilla and Internet Explorer also. Dont want to miss the deal, so any help is appreciated

Can I get this same configuration by logging into Dell elsewhere, to use a discount please?
If so, how would I do this? Thanks!!

Hello

I'm getting close to the order page but have just noted no modem is included.

Am I right that this is irrelevant if you have a broadband connection or do I need to somehow have a modem as an extra?

Sorry not much of an IT whizz I know!!!

Thanks

Dan

Hi and welcome aboard.

You only need a modem if you are using dial up. The don't include them as standard anymore as most people don't use them. For broadband you require an Ethernet connection which this has.

Anyone know how many USB sockets it has and how many are on the front of the case?
Thanks.
