You will find sidebar links to all dells manual pages in my blog. Specs for each are there.

I'm thinking of ordering this one with the following changes but would like some feedback.

Upgrading memory to 2048mb 667Mhz,

Adding :
19-in-1 Media Card reader with bluetooth
Internal Wireless PCI Card
IEEE 1394 PCI Adapter card

brings the total including VAT and delivery to £368.96.

Stop it please - I've just bought a Canon HV20 camcorder and I know my current XP3200 PC isn't going to cut it when it comes to video editing.

I'm trying to hold off for a few more months before I spend again (and slip it past the missus) - But this is what I'd be looking for - Hopefully it will come again but with more memory. 1gb ain't going to be enough.

Another cracking deal......please stop MikeT

I would forget the memory upgrade and buy 2x1024mb from elseware (has 4 slots) making your total 3gig. It will work out the best value way to get extra ram.

Cracking, cracking deal mate... Excellent value for money.

Agree you need to add to the ex VAT price to hit the £299 free delivery floor...

D034007 is a better bet at £363.08 delivered with Vista Business, 320gb HD and 256mb graphics...

Yes I think so too ;-)

Add a couple of 1gig sticks of ram from say Crucial at £28 for 3gig total and maybe plant another 250Gb drive in there sometime later and you have a very respectable desktop base. Gamers can upgrade the graphics as they please if needed.

I know this might sound like a silly question but how would this compare to the XPS 420 that was posted for £509 recently. That one had a 8800GT card (approx £120) but beyond that anything else?

Voted hot.

Is there a direct link for D034007? just that when I search for it on dell website the price I get is around £430 and that’s with adjustments.

The D034007 does look a good offer. You can upgrade the HD to 500 GB for £5.29. You could also sell your copy of Windows Vista Business for more than £60 on Ebay and install XP making this a great machine at a great price!

Any thoughts on if it is worth upgrading the card from a - 256MB ATI® Radeon™ HD 2600 XT graphics card to the - Video Card 256MB nVidia GeForce 8600GTS Graphics Card? I would be playing a few games, not to fussed about FULL settings but will mainly be used for editing HD video? (will upgrade the ram from cheaper source) Thanks

I wouldn't bother with the Dell graphics upgrade - I doubt that you will notice the difference unless you are a serious gamer. And you can always upgrade later - Dell supplement for the upgrade is not that much less than the full price...

Good offer.... but yesterday you could have had the same spec machine with 19" monitor and an extra 1GB of RAM for only £389.57 (less than £38 more - easily recouped and more if you didn't need the monitor)

hotukdeals.com/ite…e=3

I know it was yesterday but I think the premature flagging of it as 'Expired' meant people missed out on that deal.

Agree completely - so many times these deals are expired in this way.

It was your own deal post, you must have put in the expire date of 20th. Once it reaches that date it will auto expire.
If you see a deal thats still live and marked expired use the "report a post" system to get it unexpired.

Thanks Mike - I'll look for that. I did post an update to the item to try to get it back. However there are many instances where items without expiry dates are expired. I had it repeatedly with HP deals.

Again with that in mind many members have the ability to expire posts, so it lends itself to some misuse, I often have to unexpire my deals where some members who dont like dells have expired them, so you do need to keep an eye on your own deals.

Unbelievable that someone should maliciously and prematurely expire a deal simply because they don't like the product/retailer/manufacturer/whatever. This has to be traceable by the mods, and if it is I sincerely hope that any miscreant is banned - permanently

If you add stuff that has a resale value on say ebay then its really like an extra discount as once the kit arrives sell on the extra's to make the base cost even less, dont forget quidco too!

Typical price for both of those on ebay combined would be around £28. £14 quidco also, so you'd be lookin' good at about £288 possibly!

Would £288 probably be the cheapest price up till now that you could buy a quad core pc at? Also would I be able to build a pc with this spec for the price?

Still available today, by adding the Logitech 500 cam and a belkin 8 socket surgemaster this deal can be had for only £330!!

Mike,

I was having a play with this deal & I cannot get it to work. I have added the Logitech 500(0) and the belkin but the price does not come down to anything like the £330 that you have suggested. I am up over £400 having reduced the warranty.

I must be missing something.
