Nice spec indeed. Slimline cases look much better too :P

really quiet i believe
good deal

This would be good as a media center. The graphics will run HD when you download the catalyst control center and will also decode h.264 with the avivo technology. It is the same height (if you lie it down) as a VHS player.

Anyone know what motherboard is in it and whether the 7.1 integrated audio is any good as I want optical out on mine to connect to my surround system?

hi
is this the best value for money pc at this price point ??

i have vostro this and vostro that going round my head and i am confusing myself something silly :-(

quite like the slim case as i have a space in my av rack for it (can this be lay flat )
cant really go higher than £300 so this looks ok to me but could not get it at 4mb cache as the title says for the money..
please help me out i need to order a new pc asap .

i know my first post and loads of querys but ive got to start somewhere..

You need to do as it says in the first post and reduce the warranty to 1yr and remove the monitor to get the price as displayed.
I think its good value ;-)

Forgot to say, yes it has feet on the sides too so it can lay flat.

This looks good for a media centre pc. Can anyone recommend a passively cooled graphics card with hdmi output that would fit in it please? I would like to use a 40" 1080p screen as a monitor.

is this graphics card the same as the x1300 pro?

The inbuilt card should be ok for 1080. My old x300 works fine on that on my 32inch set to 1920x1080 using a dvi-hdmi cable.

Does it have dvi? The base model in the picture just seems to have vga.

X1300 for slim tower has dvi vga and svideo out.

but is it the same GFX card as in the vostro 200 offer on last week?

It is cracking deal, innit?

Your going to need to be more explicit than that mark, there were several Vostro 200's last week, slim and base.

If I read you right your thinking of the slim model with Integrated Intel Graphic Media Accelerator X3100 which isnt whats in this one.

Very good deal! The E6550 chip on its own is over £100 at all the major retailers, and infact I tried to price together the same system from buying the components and it was coming to £400.

Anyone know which video card will work better with a 26" TV Monitor - this one or the 512MB nVidia GeForce 8300GS Turbocache graphics card on the other deal MikeT posted (hotukdeals.com/for…4) I'll use the PC primarily as a media centre with the TV (which will be used mainly as a TV in the kitchen-diner.) Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this...

ordered one! to be delivered 9th oct :-(

The two cards are nearly identical performance wise. However, if you order this machine as the poster above it will be long time before you receive due to shortages of the radeon! However, if you order the other machine you you will probably receive it within a week! I ordered mine Thursday and its coming Tuesday! Also, the MT is a more roomy case, and generally more suited as a conventional PC as it uses fullsize graphics cards. The ST uses lowprofile cards which are more expensive and underperforming.

Thanks for the input Pontiac. Appreciated.

I'm not sure why this has been marked as "expired" as it's still available on the website

Mines just been delayed until 10th OCTOBER!! due to it being so popular. It won't be popular for long with these delays.

My date for receiving this system is 8/10. I spoke to dell yesterday and they have said the delay is the graphics card on this unit, will be in stock on the 17th Sep. So hopefully may receive earlier than the 8th.

What I really want to know is how quiet are these computers?

I want the slim version of the Vostro 200 with the base 4mb Dual Core processor - but for me a computer really needs to be quiet - i.e. not much fan noise, vibration from the case and spinning noise from the hard drive .. can anyone who's bought one advise on how quiet these machines are and if the noise levels go up at all when the PC is pushed and worked harder?

i.e. do the fans spin faster? or remain constant?

you could always replace the generic fans with temperature-regulated fans (e.g. arctic cooling do a fairly cheap one, runs v quietly)

hi does any body no what motherboard this has? is it possible to overclock it or would it be locked? i dont play any pc games at all, just do the usual stuff like browsing, watching videos any occasionally a bit of video converting, would the gfx card be good enough for that?

well peeps i ordered this on the 31st august and through checkout was given 8-10 days delivery but on my 2nd email got a est date of 8th october:x

so called customer service to find out the reson for the big delay and was told that someone would call me next day to tell me why the delay and when the soonest delivery date would be??
next day = no phonecall :x

so phoned them up again and was told that my pc was scheduled as a priority and that someone would phone me on friday to update me on the situation and to iron out the timescale problems i face..

once again = no phonecall :x

is this the normal type of service that you recieve from these:-(

do you reckon with my shabby treament i could wrangle a vista upgrade(i dont mind paying a bit extra) or am i wasting my time.........:whistling:

if anything like vostro which i bought on here not so long ago, nearly identical specs, mine is ultra quiet, cant even hear it, only thing u can hear is start up,fans roar, but after like 5 secs its silent, for 1st few try i had to check pc was on as its that quiet:giggle:

Hi

I'm waiting on mine too, I will be using this as a media pc and want to connect to my samsung lcd via hdmi. Now vid card on this is DMS59, which is not digital. So my question is, is there a low profile hdmi vid card that I could use with this ?

ATI Radeon X1300 Pro 256 MB PCI-E Low Profile Card DVIc/DMS59 JJ461

Yes £317.32 now.

has any one received theres yet?

nope !!!!
im still waiting from 31st august :whistling: :whistling:

anyone know what the hold up is for ??
i was told that they were only waiting for the glass for the monitor , but after explaining that i had not ordered a monitor was fobbed off with the "oh and some internal parts too":x

This is a slimline case, so I assume that you need a low profile graphics card if you ever want to replace the one that Dell put in. There is only a tiny choice of low profile cards out there. The case is good looking, but it may be more practical to go for the full-size version.

im sure i read some where that they were waiting for the gfx card. is yours still in pre production?

Does anyone know if you can get 2 optical drives in this case?

Thanks in advance.

according to dell site "One optical drive bay (DVD-ROM4, CD-RW/DVD, 16X DVD+/-RW )"

Original Poster Moderator

Yes just room for one optical.

Thanks guys....

BTW are the new Dell deals due tomorrow!??

Thanks again!
