If you have an AMEX - check your offers as you might find £100 off £750 or more spend - which would make this £786.

I've got this in 16:10 as my work laptop and have to say it's had nothing but problems. The battery is terrible and lasts less than 3 hours when unplugged - this isn't helped by terrible firmware making keeping the laptop asleep with the lid closed a challenge in itself. The processor runs hot and the fan is quick to kick in (and noticeably loud). The screen is beautiful and the build is great - the internals are a mess though. I would buy an M1 mac over this in a heartbeat for the same money (I have this as my personal laptop). It's absolutely silent, much quicker, the battery lasts forever and when you close the lid the thing actually stays asleep. The Mac isn't as pretty in terms of the screen and the OS has its quirks, but honestly it'll serve you better than this will and you could probably find it for less money than this (albeit with half the RAM) (edited)

I understand the 16:10 version (9310) has heating issues, people complaining about throttling.

The 16:9 version (9305) uses the older style case which is supposedly much better at cooling. I have just ordered this for work, so will keep and eye out for the problems you have been having. Thanks!

I was looking at these type of laptops a while ago, ended buying a baseline MacBook Air for £799 from JL (customer return) been nothing short of amazing and I used to only stick with windows laptops. Unless you have apps that only run on windows or need the storage then would highly recommend looking at Mac book air as an alternative.

I have the 9360 (2018). I personally, would not recommend it. I wouldn't say I put much strain on the laptop but after 24 months, the motherboard was cooked and needed replacing - thankfully most of my docs were backed up to the cloud. Still now, the laptop regularly runs hot and the fans blow heavy. I'm not sure this chassis is that much better at cooling tbh.

Having owned two generations of XPS 15, I would agree with you. My current one is okay but there are some pretty egregious flaws, particularly around sleep/closing the lid.

I will probably opt for a Macbook for my next laptop. Really wanted another XPS but its so unreliable.

I also looked there, but needed Windows pro in order to access my work network. £100 to upgrade from home to pro.

Apparently the 9310 has throttling issues, the older case design on the 9305 has better thermal management. (edited)

I have the 16:10 and don't get any issues with heat - I do think buying the 4K screen was overkill though, especially as it's usually plugged into an external monitor. This is a good deal...will give the OP heat!

    Good spec for the money.

I think the hinge issue is still an issue with these though.

I have 9305, had 7390 would absolutely recommend NOT to purchase it for personal use. For office use, maybe, if you have good warranty deal.

Really? Is this STILL a thing??? My XPS from both 5 years and 2 years ago have this problem. I thought they would have figured such a simple issue out by now....

It says poor gaming but you could get a Thunderport GPU enclosure and GPU for when not on the move.
