since when is HD3000 quad core ?

shame about the TN screen panel and limited connectivity but seems a great price, heated anyway.

Thanks!!! Looks like I'm SOLD

Cheers....

Also Core i7 & 256GB SSD versions for £804.73

You may find these are just sell through rather than refurbs to make way for the IvyBridge CPU's.

Good price.

Just wondering though, how does the Intel HD Graphics 3000 compare to a first gen XPS 17 (Geforce 445M)?

It'll do HD youtube etc. without a problem but anything by Nvidia/ATI is bound to be better if you want to do anything gaming wise.

In before the 'get a netbook' comments that you usually get on macbook air threads.

Someone is going to have to explain this one to me, why is this seemingly basic laptop getting heat at a price of £640 and a refurb of all things? I'm noticing it's a dell so you're hardly paying the premium for the name as with apple.

lol @ the useless comment.

GT445M is much more powerful than HD3000, but they can't be really compared, just as you can't compare 13" laptop with 17".

did you notice the word Ultrabook in the title? That's what you pay for.

I'd imagine the 445M would be much better. The XPS 17 and the XPS 13 are extremely different. If you need a portable and light notebook, the XPS 13 is the obvious candidate. If you do note care particularly about portability, you should probably look elsewhere.

what laptop are you talking about?

Well you are paying for a premium price for a premium product, the build of the laptop is just superb with gorilla glass which is edge to adge, carbon fibre and aluminum. I have been using one for a few months and paid a lot more for this laptop from new and have not regretted one moment of it. Yes the specs could be a little better and a few more ports but overall an excellent price and laptop. Dell are constantly improving the drivers for the model and are listening to the customer feedback for improvements which do happen in he form of driver updates on a regular basis. There is an excellent forum here for more information Your text here

Awful deal, especially compared to the Sony Vaio deal on at the moment.

Which deal is that?

A 17" Vaio which isn't really comparable to this.

Whats better? This or the Acer Ultrabook for around £550?

I think my post 2 months ago was a better deal. I ordered and it came brand new - not a mark on it.

Unless your going real budget pincher its stupidity to get a laptop without an SSD these days.

I guess some people will never understand the idea of an ultrabook, and I guess some others will not ever be able to buy anything other than an Apple.

I bought the predecessor to this deal last year, the adamo 13. Its bee an excellent machine, really well built, good screen, good touchpad and the SSD made it super fast. This presumably builds on that with even better spec. Bargain.

not necessarily. I would much prefer a laptop with all the decent specs and a relatively slow HDD and replace it with SSD of my own liking.

the problem with ultrabooks is that they use mSATA, so either you go for lower capacity and get a decent price or pay ridiculous amounts for 256GB and above.

exactly. far better cpu, double the ram, better graphics and slightly larger screen. the laptop can be fitted with a SSD if needed at a later date.

Depends on the model - some have a 7mm SATA SSD - the mSATA drives tend to be used as cache drives combined with a regular hard drive.

I never said I agree with you. 17" multimedia machine is aimed at different market than 13" ultrabook.

My machine's got an HD 3000, I know it's limitations. You just paraphrased what I originally wrote, with an oxymoron thrown in for good luck (you say it can't be compared after you've compared it?!)

Pot kettle and black spring to mind, **** wit.

Excellent deal. Ordered the i7 with 256GB drive for £805.00. Anyone know if the 6% cash back tracks for topcashback on Dell outlet?

Ignore the TCB question. The answer is no!
