I have one of these and can recommend it 100%, it's a beauty, quiet and light to carry around.

Nice laptop MikeT. Am I right in thinking that XPS are focused on the gaming market? Im after two laptops of around £500 each. Should I sacrafice the Graphics Card as I will not be gaming on it and will Dell haggle as I will be spending £1000 with them? Thank you.

i have one too, the white led screen option is very nice but the keyboard is absolutely ****, dell ruined this laptop with such a cheap plasticy sliver painted piece or ****, I just know the silver is going to wear off in a few months and leave it looking awful

Do you know how much it weigh's?

This isnt really a gaming laptop as the 8400 GS isnt a strong graphics card. Get the xps M1530 instead for gaming. This laptop is made for casual users who want a thin and light notebook.

if u want this to be LIGHT WEIGHT get the LED screen it will costs Approx £90 more, and i opted for the 9cell battery with the LED screen. i can get 4-5hours out of it.

this laptop is really only worth it with led screen my personal opinion.!! Still very light with 9 cell and led at only 2.05-2.1kg then. WITH A STANDARD CFL screen its heavier

The 8400GS runs CAll of suty 4 nicely too!!

I HATE THE fingerprint reader not worth it!! pile of XXXX

oh and the SLim dvd writer makes a hell of a noise ejecting or sloting a dvd!!!!!!! BAD POINT!!

the xps laptop is really for mulitmedia and gaming, this particular one can play the games but happens to have a decent gfx card to use its power for the need of Vista and its requitements i will say u shoudl stick to this type of graphics cards and its needed nowadays.

The laptop is mainly for ease of travel with multimedia in mind and some decent power behind it. I take it to work as i needed a very light laptop with some good power with decent multimedia capabilities which fit m need. SO light with the led screen and its so bright 9cell helps with led screen stilll ight with a big battery!! 9 cell DOES stick out does not make it as nice still ok though do like it !! but it did cost me over £900 with 2.2ghz cpu and led etc. for that type of money well u cannot get a real good sony easily this matches it and beats it in price. I would say have to spend over £1200 for decent sony!! DEPENDS ON YOUR BUDGET

While it's only an 8400m, it's still far better than the integrated graphics card most machines of this size use.

Im about to order a vostro 1700 with my spec and today when i spoke to dell they said they would upgrade the 160 gig HD to 7200 rpm for..

Now the 10% runs out if i order tonight then can i get the 7200 rpm HD tomorrow by ringing them up? plz i need to know as I need to order before 12am lol

I know shouldnt leave things till the last minute lol but someone know if dell will let me change to that HD tomorrow morning even if i order tonight?

Many thanks

i cant believe i missed the HP DV2535+FREE IPAQ. offer posted a while ago…top

Now that the offers not available, i've been looking for equilivent or a better offer since, it was a top of the range laptop with incredible price :x

Hi all - I've just been on the phone to dell on behalf of my brother (regarding the m1330); he was concerned that their might be compatibility problems with Vista and the xp networks he sometimes works with so wanted a downgrade path to xp pro.

Dell have offered to supply him with vista home premium with something installed on the hard disk to allow him to downgrade to xp - I knew something like this is possible for Vista business and ultimate but I'm wondering if this is kosher for Vista Home? If the licence terms for Home don't allow a downgrade path would we need to make sure they supply an xp licence as well as one for vista home?

Any advise would be helpful - thanks in advance.

Well, it's not looking promising - I've asked them to confirm that the purchase of the m1330 would include a license to downgrade to xp if required (that being the basis of my call in the first place) - they have been very quick to send a pdf of the desired spec, but on this point there has been silence.

That sounds very fishy to me. If i were you get Vista Business or Ultimate to be sure.

Yeah - when I suggested that you could only downgrade from Vista Business and Ultimate and the sales guy said no, it was possible to do it from Home, I started wanting to get everything in writing - I've a feeling that if I proceeded with the sale my brother would just end up with the configuration we could have got from the web but with a partition on the hard disk to allow him to dual boot a version of xp he'd have to acquire separately. Seems a bit weird that he wouldn't offer vista business in place of home premium - think I'll give them another call

[edit] With a different agent they were still trying to say no difference between Home, Business and Ultimate - only when I pointed out that Microsoft Activation Support would not help with a used XP product key unless you had Business or Ultimate did she say that I could have Vista Business for an extra £23 which turned to no extra cost when I said we'd be looking elsewhere.

How did you go with your downgrading for the XPS 1330? I called up dell sales about downgrading specifically and was told they would not do it! Considering I wanted 4 laptops for my work, it seems they don't want the business!
