Or for £1281.612 you can have the 512GB SSD version.

The version with the 1 TB disk has space for two drives, 1 mSATA card and then 1 2.5" HDD or SSD.

The 512GB version has no space for the 2.5" drive and has a larger battery instead.

Its from the Dell outlet but I've always had perfect machines from the outlet. Also the dispatch time if ordered normally is 27/2/2014 so outlet is quicker.

Notebookcheck has a picture showing the difference between the two options:

People will simply be voting cold because they think it's a lot to spend on a laptop, spec not at all coming into it....typical of this site.

The closest spec wise would be the Macbook Pro 15"

The £2,199.00 is quite close to the 512GB version of this. (Better and worse in different areas, but quite close)

Great price for this resolution but the graphics card is not great, especially if you plan to run games at the native resolution of the laptop.

the one with the bigger battery has gone, dammit. about to buy it when I spotted this and got my hopes up!

ahh well, I have a 15% off code for a new one

you will be hard pressed to find any laptop (excluding 5kg bricks) that can run games at that res, best to run games at standard HD.

Still showing for me, you want the more expensive 512GB SSD version for the larger battery. Outlet starts with excluding VAT prices.

The cheaper 1TB version (with the smaller battery) seems harder to order. I've been checking the outlet the last couple of days.

yeh I tried to add it but it throws an error, the smaller ones listed and will go in the basket though. I was planning to put in the new samsung evo 1tb when it comes out later this month and put the 512 in my pc with an adapter.

That is one very powerful laptop!

Try another browser, Dell have a very unstable website at times. Chrome seems to hate the forums etc.

I have one of these (or very similar) and I have to say its incredibly fast. My CPU is slower than the one you posted and it will boot to windows8 in around 7sec and fedora 20 in a staggering 4sec. I only have single SSD drive rather than the two you posted here. My only comment would be it has the dual video Nvidia optimus and Intel video. This is to enable use of the nvidia GPU to improve video speed in games. Great if you play lots of games but for me its been a bit of a nuisance, only because when using Fedora there are no suitable drivers to support optimus (great drivers for nvidia and intel but the optimus functionality is not there yet). For Windows users I think this is not an issue. Might help somebody.

yeh chrome was the problem, I just did it in IE and it went it, but after giving it a few mins thought and doing the math I may as well go for a new one as it is only £146.15 less from the outlet, in the grand scheme of things I may as well make use of the Dell VIP 15% off code I got and bag a new one that will take a few weeks to arrive.

it is why I am picking this one, I have a medion p6624 with an ssd upgrade (in the cd bay) and the optimus gt425 chipset. Love it. but it is getting a bit old for modern stuff.

I think its a typo the two capacities are :

91WHr 6-Cell Battery
or
61WHr 6-Cell Battery

The 91WHr is definitely a bigger battery. (in the 512GB version)

Firefox works better for me on the Outlet as Chrome refused to load to basket quite often.

For those that aren't aware the version with the 91WHr battery accepts a single mSATA SSD only whilst the one with a 61WHr battery can take an mSATA SSD plus a 2.5" Drive which is probably 7mm.

heat from me for a kick ass spec. There isn't much that has this spec on the Windows side. I appreciate that this has a touch screen. but I wish the build quality was closer to Macbook pro standards, even if it made the price closer.

I realised you meant that as the 1TB 2.5" drive is already available. If you are prepared to spend £1,200 on a laptop what's another £450+ to upgrade the SSD!

Fifth tab on that page VIP deals, it mentions 15% on XPS laptops. But the code it gives you via email when you signup only takes 10%.

You need to contact them to order it.

If buying new (not outlet) you might be able to claim £200 if you trade something in.

tradetosave.trade-in-platform.com/_Co…tml

The shipping dates on the new models are terrible though. It might be March before you see the machine.

good spec nice price

Glad to see these finally popping up in the outlet store as been keeping tabs on them since launch. Thanks for brining to attention even though cold votes.

I had a core2 (T9400) laptop from dell for which I opted for 91WH 9 cell battery (huge one). It didn't last much more than two hours for office use. It was a 17 inches 1080p screen but two hours on the go is not impressed. My RMBP can last 6-7 hours when I am coding. I think i7 is not necessary for a laptop even if you game with it. Battery life is probably more important nowadays since processing powers are more than enough for most people.

I find that hard to believe unless you mean that's what you get now after 5 or 6 years of usage.

Amazing specs.
If only I needed a laptop.

It's up again on Dell Outlet in case anyone's looking for it. £1068 + VAT.

A colleague of mine has one of these new models and they are incredible machines. £1250 ish sounds a lot of money for refurbished but it's more likely to work than if buying new. I only buy refurbs from Dell's Outlet now and have found them all to be in like new condition and all but one has worked without problems. Thanks to the onsite warranty, even if there's an issue you can get an engineer out the next day to fix it, so it's an overall superb service. Just wish I had the £'s to buy an ultrabook of this kind.

Bit the bullet and went for a new one (with my 15% off code) with 3 year warranty to be safe.

Justified at £1.44 a day if I have it for 3 years working out about £3 a day 0% if I pay it off on my new Santander card with 18 months on purchases

How bad is the estimated shipping date?

My outlet one is two weeks, which seems excessive for sticking a label on the box.

ships late feb but from what people say they tend to come a lot faster. Dell do not hold UK stock from what I gather.

In my experience of using the outlet, it generally takes 7 to 10 days from ordering to delivery, unless there's a delay. Since outlet models are located in UK, I've no idea why it takes them a good few days just to ship it. Let us know how you get on with it.
