Guys!!! I "know" that this notebook doesn't come with 1080p full HD screen or a blue ray. But this is the best price you can get for the latest sandy bridge core'i processors.

To get this lappy for £529.00, use the voucher code: 3CLQR9D4KWBPT5 between 0000hrs to 1000hrs tonight.

6% further cash back can be claimed via quidco reducing it to approx £500.

This deal is specifically for tonight as the voucher will expire at around 10am.

I can guarantee that you can not find a single deal with sandy bridge CPU, dedicated GPU that is cheaper than this!! I have been looking to buy a decent spec lappy for quite a long time, couldn't get anything better than this!!

CPU PASS MARKs: cpubenchmark.net/cpu…GHz

Graphics card overview and pass marks: notebookcheck.net/NVI…tml

Please vote cold if you don't like it but also post a link of laptop with better specs or cheaper price. Cheers!

The code says "£100.00 off laptops over £699.99," but works on this... Which is great.

Isn't it a shame that they charge so much for the upgrade to full HD? Great deal, but they'd sell like hotcakes if the upgrade cost was the same as Sony's (£30.00.)

i think £699.99 is the minimum RRP (For XPS 15, it is £822.99). But I don't care now as it worked for me

DELL's FHDs are much more superior than Sony's FHDs but this fact still can't justify the stupid £170 upgrade. Its just tooooooo much!

Well, the difference is Sony offer three different screens (across their product range) and the one that's £30.00 more is in the middle of them in terms of quality (720p, 1080p and a RGB 1080p,) whereas Dell only offer screens at each extreme (720p and the RGB 1080p) which explains the price difference... If only Dell offered that middle ground.

*edit* this thread probably isn't the best place for this discussion - my gripe about the cost of screen upgrades is in no way a criticism of this deal - it's a great price for what you get

how about TCB giving 7.07% cash back which makes it £491.60 great deal8)

I would steer clear of Dell. I have an XPS and have had nothing but problems with it since i got it. Do a google search and read the forums, nothing good comes from Dell.

The voucher isn't working, can you clarify the times that you stated it will be valid please?

Or is it only valid for certain people?
Edited by: "adamzap" 19th May 2011

The voucher code is doing nothing for me ... it's determined to stay at £628.99. Shame.

Can anyone suggest an alternative ?

Is there any chance that Dell won't honour this, because of the code?

rather have a dell than an acer
but as with all things its personal experience

Can't get the code to work?

Have looked on the Dell website and it says the voucher is valid till 0800, not 1000. Shame as it would have been perfect for me

I don't think there is a computer manufacturer in the land that excels in support and after sales service, so in this regard Dell is no different than any other.

If you are assertive with Dell they will respond with better customer service, but if you don't stand up for yourself, they will walk all over you.

Generally from any manufacturer, retail support is generally considered crap, where business support is generally considered good, but this is based on a number of factors:

1. You're paying less in retail and only have one vs paying more and the potential hundreds in Business.
2. People who have a limited understanding and use PC's/Laptops infrequently vs Someone using the machine everyday.
3. Businesses having 'professional' IT and occasionally providing training to work force.

Laptops tend to vary in quality and reliability between models, not specifically a manufacturer.

My suggestion, read the reviews and if necessary spend that little extra to get what you need.

For that price that is a great bit of kit.

voucher code dont work

dont know what time zone your on...?

I have this laptop - its excellent!

Ordered this Laptop last nigh. Hope TCB tracks this purchase and I will get it in £492 which is awsomest deal for XPS. Thanks to Bo0td.

This is a business class (high end) laptop and has its own dedicated support number for XPS machines. I've got an XPS M1530 which is a few years old now. I have had the odd problem over the years but have always had a next business day callout which is more then I can say for any other laptop model. I did extend my warranty after a year for about £100 for 3 years and its well worth it.

A supercharged desktop can't, so no.

I guess you could have it on the highest graphical set, you'd just need to tweak it or turn off various effects.

I had Dell out to replace the motherboard on my XPS M1530 (battery wouldn't charge even though laptop worked fine on mains. A known fault.) Even on the minimum warranty, having gone through the online fault reporting procedure, they sent someone to my house within 2 days who replaced it. I was very impressed with their customer service.

Seems a really good deal and I want it but I only just sold my old laptop after buying the samsung q330 that was on here not too long ago.

I have the new XPS 17, and have had no problems at all with it (had it a couple of months now).
As for nothing good comes from Dell, my XPS 17 is amazing for the money and I'm very happy I went for it.

As for the screen, you could always buy an aftermarket LCD for a lot less and replace it yourself (does NOT void the warranty as long as you do no damage when replacing it).

I have this laptop, bought it around Christmas time. No complaints at all and well worth it at this price. Was just wondering if I will be able to run Battlefield 3 on it when it comes out?!? My graphics card is the NVIDIA® GeForce® GT420M

Any good for gaming?

just lacks the hardware

They used to have a 24/7 phone support line for XPS systems but not sure if that still applies. I’ve been happy with Dell tech support over the years.
I wouldn’t class it as being a high end business class laptop like some of the Latitudes but they are decent mid range systems.
