This makes the dell website hang.
Nice set of features for the price, but having just been around a load of stores looking for a laptop for my daughter to take to university, I have to say that the Dell laptops were by far the heaviest. Not sure if that applies to this particular one, but worth thinking about.
The spec is nice, HOWEVER, these machines are fantastic, except for the 1600x900 screen. I got one and the screen is terrible. Seriously avoid the 1600x900 if you are considering the XPS. And I'm not kidding, the screen really is swallow being so poor.
Sounds like a really good deal. The only problem is I can't check out.
seems to be problems with the website for me. cnt change specs or go to chek out
Any one knows can u get 15 inch screen with those specs at this price?

I bought mine yesterday, it seems that the added interest has brought the page down. If you're really interested I suggest that you guys call up, or just hang on.

I don't think it's added interest, the e-value code just causes a fault. If you search for the e-value code for this deal, it doesn't exist.
The e-value code: n00x7m06epp works for me, and even allows me to go to the checkout!

I'm going to update the link, see weather anything changes.
I bought an XPS which arrived this week (mine is 6Gb RAM and 1Tb hard drive though).

Yes, the screen isn't great. My previous Dell (Studio) has much sharper screen. But its a solid, slick computer in terms of performance.

Good price if you can get it. I'm using an l702x which I think is also the XPS 17 and it's a great machine. Paid about £675 a few months ago fir this exact same spec but with 8GB RAM. Really is a good laptop for the money. Kitted it with an SSD as well as a primary boot drive cos these laptops have a 2nd hard drive cradle installed. Good if you're running short on space overall an excellent machine especially for multitasking.

Your updated link in the OP now works, just not when you click on the go to deal. Thanks for working it out.

+1. He's right. My XPS is a fantastic laptop but the screen is just disgusting. Has a viewing angle of 30 degrees and then starts to lose contrast.

i have this laptop, its EPIC
i paid 600 for the i5 version (on sale, + some vouchers)
excellent for gaming
but big and heavy! - its more of a desktop replacement
God damn you people! I worked for 6 weeks in the summer throwing hats into a god damn box for 8 hours a day! and now I just spent all I had left on this! This site destroyed my social life. Thanks OP.

I don't know about the price but I know the best graphics card you can get for the 15 inch model is a 2GB GT540M
Works fine if you search by the e-value code. However it's strange that there is no option for full hd screen like you can find if you try to build your xps from the ones advertised on dell's website. Anyone else having the same problem?
Not bad for a new laptop, i think if screen was full 1080p then it wou7ld be a stell, nother the less this is a bargin. For anyone looking for a laptop , i defo reconmend this
No the option was there for me, i think it was something stupid like £280 extra so didnt even consider it. Although that being said, its the ONLY downside to this laptop. But its not put me off.

This is a alienwear / MSI compromise for me. I was going to purchase a 1k gaming laptop last week. Adding backlit keyboard only cost £30 extra so i went for that as well. Very cost effective. £656.10 total. Will update if quidco actually happens ontop of this.
How long is this likely to stay up till? Tomorrow morning?
Not bad for a top-of-the-range laptop like this. Heat added.
i have this laptop but with 2x500gb hard drives and 6gb of ram. good laptop, but the screen is not as good as it could be, but certainly not bad. nice keyboard though.

only word of warning: if your techy and want to dual boot this laptop with 1 drive for OS's and the other for data, dell have screwed you already. they put 3 "primary system boot" partitions on the OS drive so you cant install any more operating systems, and they cannot be removed else windows will no longer boot.
How long will this deal be available for?
Website not working for me either. Can navigate any other laptop on the site but just not this one.

Heat added though.
Works fine for me navigation wise and checkout was fine. Can i leave it to buy until morning and be safe that it will still be there nyone?

Been available since July..it's an EPP code being used on the 'normal' site..but Dell will honour it.

Well if you're being a proper techy about it then modern operating systems can be installed on extended partitions and the boot files on a primary partition. Basically the problem you cited isn't a problem.

You can use the diskpart tool to manage the partitions, create extended partitions etc.

You can use a myriad of free and commercial partitioning software, inbuilt partition tools in Vista/Windows 7 etc etc to enable more operating systems to be installed.
If you need XP you can install it after Vista/Windows 7 and still enable a multiboot environment.

BootIt Bare Metal can create unlimited primary partitions. There's probably freeware apps that can do the same.

Anyway the long and short of it is that there isn't a problem so nothing to see here please move along.

Itll last till 7th sep. I actually meant how long will comp stay at that price for?
Had my L702x since the delayed release.
Amazing laptop, worth the money I paid, so is a no brainer at this price.

Have since installed a 128GB SSD to go with the 500GB HDD it came shipped with, and upgraded to 8GB RAM.

Haven't used a desktop since.
I have this laptop, got it from the outlet though with same gpu, 4GB stick of ram, i7 2720, 3d screen (which is amazing, like my ips panel monitor, only even brighter) The gpu is the best bargain though, simply instal msi after burner and within minutes you can have it safely overclocked better than a GT460m, i'm getting around 60+ FPS on black ops at full 1080 with maximum settings and 30+ on crystal ultra settings. The story with this card is that it was deliberately underclocked so that it fitted into the class 2 bracket but with very minor tweaks it out performs a card rated far higher in most benchmarks, highest temps i'm getting is about 71° after hours of constant use.

That sounds really good, although u sure ur getting those temps, as a review i read said u would get to 80-90 without overclocking.
is there anyone helpful that can answer please to my question i asked before
