Throw in a sub-£20 SSD and it will be plenty quick enough for most tasks. Fantastic deal. I'm sure the stock HDD will be perfectly fine also, as I doubt people spending this much on a PC are too fussed about boot times or waiting a few seconds for their browser to open

Yes, potentially.

Where these come from;
Example where I work they legally have to scrap everything. Working or not, it cannot be kept or donated. If we upgrade a workstation the old is scrap, even if just motherboard died or was old etc.

So every time we get to 1000 items a company disposes of it environmentally for free.
They refurb what they can and sell on eBay.
And in theory safely dispose of the rest.
Good news is HDD and RAM tend to be new as companies shred them.

Companies are upgrading enmass at the moment as win7 expiration etc. So you will be seeing a lot of these until late 2020.

These things are old but they are major work horses. They tend to just go on forever.
100% recommend for excellent Plex server!

Helpful info.
One in the image is a 780 with Core2Duo
  • Unit Dimensions:
  • 3.65 x 12.4 x 13.4-inches
Most Lenevo would be same size.
Business are throwing away a lot of Dell 7010 also, these are newer with i3/i5 but bigger.
3.66 x 12.28 x 11.42 in
That should be the biggest you get.

It's extremely unlikely you'll get a T-3xxx series.
As they are massive and where mainly for tech/admin positions or servers.

(So glad I'm not in hardware support anymore, much rather sysadmin lol)

Sorry for long post/ramble... Took a super long ...

Good deal that
How can you know. Yes it's cheap for almost any computer, but it would just be nice IF they mentioned somewhere what model it was, and, I'm pretty sure it won't be a tower case, just a desktop flopped on its side

Don't forget to feed plenty of wood into it though!
Great price for a great emulation machine. Will play all games up to 1996 and maybe some game cube games. But for the specs I would say stick to N64 games at the max for emulation. Any console before that would be easy to run on this

Great as a Kodi box and a easy hackintosh.build. Swap CPU for C2Q add cheap SSD for extra speed if required.
An excellent gift for someone you hate.
It's not hard to find a much better deal on ebay.

We have a boat load of these its most likely a optiplex 745 or 755
Would this be ok to get onto work servers using Citrix? Like to use Microsoft word & proclaim?

Thanks in advance
Slap it in the attic for a cheap file / plex server

Unlikely it'll emulate N64 with traditional mother GPU.
The i3/9 etc have decent GPUs but these won't.
CPU will be a Core2Duo, enterprise users didn't use AMD at all then, and don't now really.
Bonus if Dell as they still provide driver cabs for all those series on Windows 10.

We use the Delly models this guy offers at work still, governments suck at IT refresh, delay is there moto.

Without an SSD and Endpoint+DLP scans constantly they crawl something horrendous.

Without an SD and standalone (no excessive file security, just AV) they work fine.
With an SSD they are great, they browse the web, email, office. Only three tasks majority of people do.

You said, "It..." No, it does not play at all. Even an 8th gen Intel does not play.

Try a monkey, if a monkey does not play, maybe you try to make it play mine sweeper

Thank you mate, appreciate your post
These are not bad basic PCs but for anyone thinking about 'just sticking an SSD in it', as these pre-date SSDs you'll have the issues to overcome of some SSDs initialising too fast and not being recognised from a cold boot. This was a massive issue a while back so it's something to be aware of.

Also anyone saying it will be Core 2 Duo, it could also be a Pentium Dual-Core (same architecture) like an E2160 or even a Celeron (unlikely).

A very out of date Hackintosh. No really advantage in Hackintoshing it in reality.
cpu is probably awful, need quad core for 2019

True but I've found that there's still some schools that use them and it's cheaper to do this for there home work then spending a couple of hundred on 10 year old MacBook.

You'd put Linux on it before an out of date OSX version though surely. macOS Sierra 10.13 is the highest support macOS version. It's still useful but I'd go Linux before macOS. There's loads of Linux distros that would work and not cause issues.
We use these at the school I work. Good enough for office and the Internet.
Wonder what skip they found these in.
Seems like a perfect Plex server to save faffing about with a raspberry pi
Less than £50 and people still complain
Getting one of these just to run the CCTV system on, cheap as chips.
This seems such a good deal! Voted hot! I’m having to source a cheap desktop/laptop because my middle son is desperate for a graphics/animation tablet for Xmas. He’s been looking at secondhand Huion Kamvas pros - before we discovered they needed a computer/laptop too - our chromebook wont do. Anyone know whether this might work with such tablets? It apparently needs windows 10. I’m assuming 8gb ram and a graphics card would be ideal but beggars and all that. Any suggestions very welcome. Laptop would have been ideal due to space but not a clue what I’m doing, only that it needs to be on a budget. Thanks again for the deal!
It's £57.99 now
I bought one of these and its great for everything i need. It has a height adjustable monitor, wifi dongle and all the leads you need. Amazing value.
Can the windows 10 licence be transferred to another system? I missed out on the free upgrade way back when and have to pay now
