Have a little look at the feedback before anyone considers buying this 'mystically' spec'd Pc.

There's a few referencing this 'Pc' :

17 negative feedback out of 1600 doesn't seem too bad. Likely at least a few of them are user error (and there's the one complaining about Windows 10 ). Sounds like they might not be very good at sorting issues, but how much after-sales service do you expect for 50 quid? Just get an eBay / PayPal refund and move on.
much better than a raspberry pi 4 for most tasks

monitor and wifi are a bonus
But can it run Crysis?

Can't really slag it off because it's the internet and a screen for £50 but it'd be a painful experience for anyone that isn't a novelty to.
Intel dual core... How informative. Last time someone spotted you could get an i3 system for about the same price. But the lack of info here tells me it's an old core2duo on this. Still ok at browsing, just much older and weaker,
To be fair after they've spent a tenner on p&p and the screen has got to be worth £20, you're getting a base unit for £18, less than the cost of a half decent PSU..

Complete system which will work fine for 75% of home computer users (mail, browsing, light Office use) for under 50 quid. Can't be bad.

The only niggle I see is that people using Outlook webmail may find it runs really slow because Microsoft have come up with a stupidly complex webpage which uses all kinds of local scripts to render the UI.
But can it run Crysis?

That completely misses the selling points of a Pi, small form factor and low power consumption, not tomention that it runs Debian which isn’t newbie friendly compared to Windows. You’re comparing apples and oranges.
Could you get rid of the hardware
& use the totally legit Windows 10 on an alternative machine?

its you that missed the point...."for most tasks"

a bare pi4 needing a case, storage, cooling kit, keyb, mouse, psu, monitor is more expensive than this

the pi is a niche product...this refurbed desktop will beat it on cost, performance and usability in almost all tasks/most tasks

the only two areas the pi has an advantage is hardware experimentation and low power consumption...areas most people don't care about, esp. when power consumption is achieved via much lower performance...comparing running a modern browser on both

a head to head between this computer and a pi for a software learning classroom (one of the primary reasons for the pi), this will equip the classroom at half the cost and more capability to run other standard windows software, as well as cygwin, python, scratch, gnu-c, wordpress

and of course this machine won't spontaneously corrupt your sd-card containing all your hard work after a period of use
Whack cloudready/chrome on it and it'll be fine as a simple task machine - browsing/Netflix etc...

The licence is presumably an OEM version that lives and dies with the hardware (according to Microsoft but not necessarily the German government) - so if you did move the licence it wouldn't be legitimate any more (if you care about such things) why would you buy this just to get a Windows 10 licence though - you can install Win 10 and not activate it and it still works with very few limitations. You could probably use an old Win7 or 8 licence key to activate Win10 - I've done this many times and it always works and gives an activated Win10.
You could probably find a £3 WIn10 key on ebay and give that a chance. I might even have a product key you could try.

When I type, "raspberry pi" into Google, I get 257 Million results, hardly niche.
Windows 10 with this spec; it’s going to struggle.

The MS mail app will probably solve that outlook issue. I've just refurbished a 10 yr old dual core laptop with 3gm ram and the Mail app is fine, although I did install an SSD.

I agree not a lot of bad feedback on high number of sales. Other thing is from experience the users lack of computer knowledge can cause issues and as they aren't a pc world size company they may not have the resources to hold there hands on initial set up.
This is ideal for kids to do homework it or my mum to check her emails. For the price that also includes delivery this seems to be a bargain.

I have a Raspberry Pi 4 4GB. With power supply, HDMI adapters and SD card it cost a fair bit more than this and you’ve still got to source monitor, mouse and keyboard. It’s not a bad machine if you like Linux (I do) but I wouldn’t inflict one on my mother.
I’m looking for a desktop tower. Got the monitor etc. If this is no good can anyone recommend a basic one for the kids to use for basic school homework and browsing. Thanks

This would be fine for that. In fact this is what it is aimed at.

for the money, you couldn’t make your own like this anywhere, or is old and basic but it does the job, at those tasks it won’t be that slow, it will struggle at multitasking and running anything that uses loads of processing, but email, browsing and homework are not in that category.

add in the bonus of eBay protection and you really can’t lose.

if you accept the limitations of what is on offer here, it is a bargain and worthy of being hot 👌
Where is the site for Windows 10 keys?
Planning to upgrade my Windows 7 desktop Windows 10(sigh) , without having to delete all data and do a clean re-install.
Love Windows 7, but with Microsoft update and support stopping, the chance of problems/ malware will get too high.
Core 2 Duo E6600 or later machines can be found on the recycling pages for nothing, I have given away 1 such machine with an HD 3850 in it and another E6600 Conroe chip to a mate for an upgrade.
These machines are worthless, you can find them by dustbins.
(Tho they will still handle W10 for surfing purposes whilst being noticeably 'pedantic' in some surfing situations)
They will also game old games with a similar age graphics card but you should try for 4 gb of ram in dual channel config.

Your Windows 7 key will legitimately activate and be upgraded to a Windows 10 licence when you install Windows 10 - you don't need to buy another licence key.

Just 2 weeks ago I used a Win7 licence key on a new Win10 installation, it accepted the licence key and Win10 has an activated licence.
