It's a tesco deal :(. Lots on the shelf in Hamilton. Better value than the currys Christmas deal.

£70 cheaper than Amazon heat for the price, whether or not I could get one from my Tesco, wouldn't count on it.

Not as good value as the Tesco Christmas offer on the internally identical 2800 though

Great super auto espresso machines if you bother to read the instructions an spend a bit of time setting it up properly.

The water temp is set too low from factory, water quantity way too high, grinder far too coarse. If you start with temp at max, grinder to 3.5, strength at 12 o'clock and water quantity at 9 o'clock you should be in the ball park and then tweak for your favoured beans. Use Brita'd water for taste and more importantly to keep scale down and you'll be well away. Take the outer part of the steam wand off and it does a great job with the milk too.

The thumbnail looks like a wall monster from Knightmare.

No free service on this one.

Great price, shame my nearest large Tesco is a good 45 minutes away and odds are they won't have any

Interesting - how do you change that? I have a very similar DeLonghi model, but I've not come across a water temp adjuster - is it internal?

If anyone is going to Exeter Tesco please can you let me know if they're available. Thanks

I managed to get the ECAM 22.320.SB from John Lewis just after Christmas for £235. Absolutely love the machine. Previously had a Nespresso machine and it just blows that out of the water - it tastes excellent. Even friends and family that have Nespresso machines comment on how much better the coffee is.

You can tweak the settings to get the coffee exactly how you like it too.

If I didn't have one, I'd definitely be getting in on this action if my local Tesco had it. Best £199 you'll spend if you like coffee...

I can vouch for this machine, my parents have one and it does do a good job.

I know this is going to sound as annoying as the people who post netflix as an option when buying a DVD boxset but... i'm using an aeropress + electric coffee grinder for about £40 all in. I love the control it gives from grain size to brewing control. I can get a great cup.

Of course it lacks a timer function and even a well trained wife cannot bring you the perfect cup at 7:30am.

Annoying would be the one who remarks that you are an idiot for spending £x on a (adjective) coffee machine when you can invest in a small kettle and a jar of Nescafe for a fraction of the cost. That is annoying and deserves immediate ear punching

This range of machines don't have menus, it's all done with a combination of holding buttons and flashing lights, no big deal though as you only need to do it once or twice when you first get it and then never touch it again, same as setting water hardness although that doesn't change anything other than a counter that triggers the descaling light.

Temp is page 16 in the manual...
http://www.delonghi.com/Global/InstructionManuals/GB/GB-5713216831.pdf

Remember these are automatic ESPRESSO machines so you don't get to automatically create other drinks with it like some of the more poncy machines, you do it like they do in a coffee shop, start with the required number of espresso shots and then do whatever needs doing to that ie want a longer coffee - add hot water from the wand (without the steam turned on!), want a latte or cappuccino etc - learn to heat the milk to create the right result for each. These things, once tweaked, will produce a perfect shot or two day in day out for **** all maintenance other than a quick clean out once a month and descaling when it tells you...which is automatic other than putting the chemical in the water tank.

here also, probably same model as OP

Has anyone seen them in stock at a Tesco/Sainsburys in the Liverpool or Manchester area?

Hmm, my one (ESAM 4200, I think) doesn't have anything resembling a "menu" so I guess I probably don't have that option.

I have a higher model I got at curry's in sale and I must say it makes a great coffee. One of those things you think is a novelty/luxury until you start to use it on a daily basis. It would be hard to go back to filter coffee now.

Whilst this will no doubt produce a nice cup, the aeropress by nature filters much of the oils out which is essentially what is desirable for most and makes the effort of grinding fresh coffee beans redundant in part. Also if the burr of the grinder is not ceramic as cheaper ones usually are it heats as it cuts the beans rather than actually grind them retaining the oils. Everybody is different and no way is right or wrong.

Heat Shame it isn't available online

We've had the ESAM 4300 for a few years now. Whenever my missus visits friends who use Nespresso-type machines, she always comments (to me, privately) how it doesn't taste anywhere near as good as the coffee we make at home. And she's right, these are marvellous.

For fresh beans I can highly recommend Rave Coffee and Coffee Direct who both do some good blends at decent prices.

Anyone know if they're still in Tesco Express Hamilton? Would make the trip from West End if they're still available.
