Have you tried using your eyes? We have this at work and have found that using the gift of sight allows us to accurately predict how many beans there are in the machine.

You can alternate. Just use the ground coffee for decaf and beans for the regular. Or the other way around.

Great machine. Got one from Argos for around this price back in December. No messier than a pod machine, but gives you total flexibility as to which beans you use. Can also use pre-ground coffee.

I spent ages comparing delonghi machines. I am not sure wether to get this or the Ecam 22.110 which is an extra £90.
Great machine but the price is meh. It's regularly been cheaper both at AO and amazon.

They're virtually all the same inside. Buy this, save your pennies ;).
The emac has more adjustable settings but from what I've read theirs not much difference in what comes out of them.
You all missed out on this one... it came out at a fraction over £151 yesterday with the eBay 20% voucher from the COOP ebay store! I ummed and ahhed about buying it myself., but it's just a bit big for the only place I have to accommodate it!
I'm waiting for mine to be delivered after ordering it from ao's ebay shop on Friday during the 20% off promotion for £151. If you have a time machine I recommend you go back and order one!
Wipes the floor with all these machine's that you have to buy their expensive coffee.
Been using one of these for 3 years and it's the dogs. Maybe 15p per cup of fantastic coffee at that price it's a bargain.
Bring different beans and ground coffee back from holiday and it's just wonderful.
Cracking price.
Just buy it!
Same price on amazon

Huge machine that gets very messy inside very quickly and bad coffee was my experience..

If they have the quieter grinder and pump then its worth it. This model is very loud.
not a deal. Normal price. Bough same one from ao month ago for 140 quid. Great coffee machine.

It is a bit easier to check how many beans are in it though as the door opens easily. Haven’t found it to be a problem for me at least.
Great machine - bought it 6 months ago and its used every day - currently using Italian 4 beans from Aldi at £1.99 a bag. Tassimo sold me on nice coffee at home but the expense of the pods made nice coffee a 'treat' now and again - this machine makes good fab coffee from beans to have all the time!

Once you try bean to cup coffee there’s no going back...great deal voted hot!
this can be got for as low as £150 at times is there anything that makes the extra £50 worth it for the Magnifica ESAM 4200 that comes up at £200 quite often?

Same here... but we are using the 5 from Aldi. Great ‘everyday’ coffee. Although, we like it strong, so go through a LOT of beans! Great machine though! Used to have a Nespresso, which was more of a novelty than anything else.

The bean tray is always accessible, so you can just lift it to check. Also, you’ll hear how the grinder sounds different when doesn’t have enough beans. It’s not a problem.

Did you complete the form they emailed you? I nearly missed it.
Great machines! I have the 5400 & used it several times per day for several years. They are very reliable considering the complexity of the machine & repairable too. I use a mixture of Lavazza Rossa & decaf beans that you can get cheaply from Amazon. A different league from Nespresso type machines & much cheaper per cup.
The downside is that the coffee you will get from at least 50% of cafes will now seem cr*p because you can get better at home!
How hot is the coffee that comes from this?. I have a pod machine that I never use because the coffee it produces isn't hot enough. I know ppl say coffee shouldn't be too hot but that's how I like it.

Adjust the setting and you're fine. Only takes a minute on these

Lift the lid! Very easy
Had the silver version for 2 years. Never drank instant coffee since. Superb machine. I do cheat though as often put milk in cup, microwave for 20secs then add coffee... Saves using steam wand. Yes, grinder is noisy, but the the reward is a house that smells sublime and a fantastic low price coffee. I buy 1kg lavazza from amazon for a tenner.
You can get it for £177 at Hughes with the code EXTRA12 applied at checkout.

Or put the coffee in the microwave for 20 seconds. I heat my milk/soy in the microwave for a minute (1000w machine) in the mug so less mess and blast again at the end. Like everything, it’s personal taste.
