I picked one of these up for £54 recently hotukdeals.com/dea…753

I've still not opened it! Is this dedica one worth the extra £40? I.e. is it substantially better, it looks a million times nicer, that's for sure.

Can't help with one over the other, sorry, but my son has had this model for over three years now and is very happy with it. Has used it daily with no issues at all.
I'd be more inclined to go for the "like new" option as my experience with "very good" items has been mixed with some clearly having had return issues.
At least with Amazon you can return for refund if unhappy.
I've got this unit and it's pretty awesome, this is a great price if it's basically unused
Good machines. I owned a coffee shop for three years so had the big pro grinders and La Spaziale so expected a significant downgrade getting one of these at home but it does a decent job when properly set up and with quality fresh ground beans.
I use one of these daily. Great machine
Better than magnifica as it has a scoop thing!. Can feel like a barista with this. Damn.

I’m not actually after one of these atm but as there are so many listed as ‘warehouse’ they must be overstock rather than returns. I’d go for the cheapest ‘used good’ one as there’s a very good chance it’s brand new. I’ve bought two different model Fire tablets on the current 20% off promo and both were listed as used good but were actually sealed new stock.

As you say you can always return stuff if you’re not satisfied.

I picked up one of these "like new", thank you OP!

Anyone on this thread recommend a good grinder?

Son has had one of the below for over 6 years with no issues and swears by it. Reviews on Amazon are mixed though. I think I might just get a hand burr grinder. I don't mind spending a few minutes grinding beans each day. It's only my wife that drinks it anyway. I can't stand the stuff.

I've had mine for about 6 months now, got it in an eBay sale for £70. It's a great machine and with a bit of research you can make a much better coffee than a standard Cappucino or Latte from Costa/Starbucks/Caffe Nero.

I've always had a thing about coffee tasting bitter, though I generally liked the flavour. Once I had a Cappucino from a artisanal place and I was really surprised when there was no bitterness and a touch of sweetness. I decided I wanted to make this kind of coffee myself and it's certainly possible!

The community around this machine is great on YouTube, lots of videos and tips for using it, just search for Dedica EC680 (or EC685) and you'll find a whole host of people sharing how they use it. Some things I've learnt is that getting a good quality burr grinder and removing the steamer's silver cover (you have to secure the rubber nozzle with a rubber band or cable tie if you do this) gets you a much better cup and steamed milk! I'm also planning to try out a 'non-pressurised' basket. Some buzzwords for you to help in making a great cup without breaking the bank.
this is a really good machine...i have one at work which gets used all the time. We have had it for about 3 years and it's never skipped a beat..
Sorry to bump my original question but as there's now more of you on the thread, but is this worth getting over this one (which I've already bought but not opened) hotukdeals.com/dea…753

I.e. is it a noticable upgrade?

My "like new" one arrived today and its correctly described. Box had been taped shut, but apart from that its totally brand new with all original bits and sealed/wrapped as appropriate.

Cant help with the comparison, but my wife is very impressed with it so far. Obviously we'll need to play around with it a bit until we get it perfect, but coffee tastes great, apparently, temperature once set to hottest is fine and the steamer/frother wand works very well too. Looks nice on the kitchen side and simple to use and clean afterwards. No regrets here

Thanks for feedback Merlin! Although I'm in a dilemma now!!
Saying that, i distinctly remember there was a flash sale on these at amazon for the same price, but for brand new ones. So should i wait for another deal like that too! Decisions decisions!
