Great price for this.

De'Longhi Traditional Pump Machine EC850.M

The traditional pump coffee maker with Automatic Cappuccino. With its elegant and refined design, EC850.M is constructed entirely in metal, which is a guarantee of sturdiness while still following the best tradition.

Although it respects tradition, the new EC850.M is the result of all of De’Longhi’s expertise in the area of coffee making. The “Automatic Cappuccino” function allows you, with the single press of a button, to transform the milk in the built-in carafe into a thick and smooth froth, for a perfect cappuccino. Practical and easy-to-handle, the carafe can be placed in the fridge, and when it’s empty, by pressing the “automatic clean” button, a full cleaning cycle begins, cleansing all internal parts.

With a single touch, EC850.M lets you choose between espresso, cappuccino, latte or just hot water for tea or an infusion.

Thermoblock heating system - ready to use in 40 seconds
15 bar professional pressure
Stainless steel body with illuminated flow stop buttons
De'Longhi patented 'automatic cappuccino system'
Can use either ground coffee or 'ESE' pods

Amazon any day if I had to choose.

I've got an older version of this, and it's excellent - only thing it misses is a water temperature and pressure gauge. For this one, not sure I'd want an automated cappuccino frother - it's an art to get proper foam, which I've not perfected, but it is fun to try. If I wanted automation in my gadgets, I'd stick to a Tasimmo.

had one and it packed up after a month

Got a Senseo and a milk frother tastes same to me and cheaper

The decent Delonghi stuff is meant to come out of a factory close to Venice. I don't know if this is a Chinese or Italian manufactured but why not consider buying a proper bean to cup coffee machine.

Something like this;

amazon.co.uk/DeL…cup

A lot more expensive I know but I think the extra £135 is worth it. Check out the reviews and the information at the bottom. I've got a similar model myself (not such a fancy retro design) and have been very pleased with it.

Also there are a few warehouse deals to reduce teh price even further.

Nesspresso is better

Mmmm I don't think so

I'm just recovering from a mad espresso fad.. I spent a fortune on cups, jugs, tamper, a massive burr grinder and a stupidly large fracino heavenly espresso machine lol. Its a lot of hassle for a cup of coffee. Better off with a cup of tea. Still, hot from me

You should invest in a bean to cup then and I tell you every cup it makes is like going to Italy every day!

delonghi stuff sucks even the bean and cup stuff. its poorly made

jura is much better

I bought one of these yesterday for £149 from currys!

Maybe Jura is but they don't appear to have models at the lower price scale so they are hardly comparable. Also the delonghi I linked to has 385 reviews with an average of about 4.5 out of 5. That's definitely highly reviewed.

In fact looking at Amazon reviews the Jura's don't look that good and this review was for a model close to £1000.

After lots of research we bought this machine and a major factor was that … After lots of research we bought this machine and a major factor was that the salesman said Jura had good after sales that other companies don't. After two months the machine broke but Jura repaired rather than replaced the machine. Another two months later it broke again and it took me over a week to even get the company to respond and when they did it was repaired again.Jura don't walk the talk, their customer service is shockingly bad for such high price point machines. If you really want a Jura get one from Ebay at half the price because Jura's guarantee is not worth the paper it is written on.The machine makes lovely coffee but I don't recommend anyone to buy a Jura machine simply because of poor reliability and aftersales service.

Also a quick look shows Jura don't actually make any coffee machines anyway they are just a brand slap.

DeLonghi make decent coffee machines - despite what the snobs say, plenty of better credited reviewers will explain why.

I use a Phillips Saeco 8751 Bean to Cup that I got on deal for £175, it's unbelievable from a quality/simplicity point of view - like many, these more purist machines (grinding your own etc) are too much hassle for me, if you're lazy save for a BtoC

92 user reviews at test freaks give it a score of 9.2 out of 10. Can't get much better than that.

As it goes I cancelled my order, I managed to fix my old Saeco Incanto Sirius bean to cup one last night, blocked water sensor - broken bean.
Happy days.

Wow my bean to cup machine is ranked 4 out of 1084 machines and the highest rated bean to cup machine.

6 of the 10 best coffee machines are delonghi. Also most of the others in the top 10 are simplier pod/capsule type machines.

This is the one we have and love it!
Seems a good price OP-heat added

I bought one of these last month to replace an old and frustrating espresso machine. I bought it from the Warehouse 'as new' for £20 cheaper and it arrived completely unused so I'd recommend doing that if more come available that way. It's a fantastic machine for espressos, really well built and works so much better than my old one, especially in terms of how quickly it produces a hot coffee from the moment you switch it on. I have tried the milk attachment to see if it froths well and it does. I don't like milky coffee though and my opinion hasn't changed after using this machine.

...which is why I wouldn't read too much into those rankings!

great price
tempted to get one

Definitely a good deal but certainly not £329 most other places.

HOT> If I had the dollar, I would buy one!

Was 5 weeks ago when the deal was posted Since then they are being cleared out most places as they are being discontinued.
Amazon was the first to drop their price.
I have removed it anyway.

I've got a standard coffee machine which I love, but the wife has a Nesspresso (they are quick and easy!) with the same Milk steamer as this machine.
I have to say thumbs up the for the Delongi milk steamer. They only steam the milk on the go so the milk in the container gets sucked up and steamed in the top half of the container. This means you can pull the milk container off and store it in the fridge when it's not used! I would say the steamed milk is about 50-60c but it isn't bad for the ease of the machine.

Unless you like frothy milky ones, perhaps save your money and buy an Aerobie Aeropress for £20/£25 and some really good small batch roasted beans? Alternatively, ebay is permanently awash with unwanted, nearly new espresso machines (predominantly pod, usually Nespresso or Tassimo, if you can stomach the ongoing pod prices). As said above, many rue a big splash on their coffee habit.

This or nespresso?

very nice little machine, now this one or esam 4200 with grinder but higher price.. decisions decisions

Bought an ESAM4200 off of this seller. It's been going well for two years without any problem. Friend picked one up from him for less than £150. Worth a thought if you're in the market for an ESAM4200. Oh, and it's with 12 month guarantee!

Hope you don't have the same experience I did. The one I got from them had an opened box, a massive hole in the side, the unit had a dent, scratches and fingerprints all over it. It looked used. They are picking it up and ordered from Amazon instead...

arghh, was going to purchase that but it has increased till 229gbp instead of 169. what a shame
