I have this machine, makes good coffee but frothing milk is exceptionally noisy.

Bought a similar one for £50 in Robert Dyas

Had this for about 3 years now. Still going strong.

Rather than buy this and a grinder, I'd stick in an extra few quid and get one of the bean to cup models when they are on offer.

It's not a few quid though, it's about 70 to 170 quid! :-(

Worth it.

Cheapest bean to cup is about 200 quid. Huge difference. Note that to use this you'll need a decent burr grinder. Machine grinders are 40 plus, you'll need a tamper for an extra tenner. So quite a bit more cost to come. Worth checking amazon warehouse for any deals. I got a melitta bean to cup for 155 this week.

Well bean to cup machines grind their own, so no you won't' need one but as you say there is quite a difference, and not everyone can afford that difference, second hand is not my idea of an alternative though....

Worth it.

I dare say a BMW owner might say the same to a Fiesta driver, but the answer would be the same - only if you can afford and want it.

I'm saying you'll need a grinder for this manual machine. True cost of manual machine is machine cost + tamper + grinder. Closer to 150. Second hand works for me, comes with a guarantee

I have mainly had good delonghi machines, although they neer last long with heavy use, but they are a NIGHTMARE to deal with if you don't - zero response to emails poor call centre with short hours and lots of machines returned in the same state they went out! :-(

Not in my experience.

Well done, you've found a website that people would only sign up to if they wanted to moan and a lot of the moaning is about staff in other countries. Useful.

Nope just used their cs a few times over the years and never had an issue.

I have had several of their products most are OK although don't last, but the one that was a dud from the beginning was a total nightmare, in complete agreement with what many others find. Look at Amazon 1 star reviews - you're on your own if it's duff, despite what the share holders say!

Why would I be a shareholder lol
I just happen to own esam 4200 and a toaster of theirs, no shares.
