Delonghi ESAM 04.320.S Bean to Cup Coffee Machine reduced from £599 to £99.50 at Tesco Kingston Park

I spotted this in the Kingston Park (Newcastle) branch of Tesco last night. A Which magazine best buy at £599, it was priced at £99.50.
I bought one - there were three left on the shelf after that.
This particular model is no longer listed on the Tesco website, so probably a local markdown to clear stock.

This machine makes a fabulous expresso!

To cover a few of the inevitable responses:

Yes, it's probably a local deal.

Yes, I can hear the gentle beating of the gander's wings.

Yes, feel free to vote cold if you don't like Tesco, local deals, coffee, me, the government, rain, life....

Seriously though, if you do happen to be in the Kingston Park Tesco today and fancy a nice coffee machine it will do no harm to have a look - you might be lucky. They were on the end of an aisle diagonally opposite the landline phone display (next to the instore Tesco Mobile shop).

*Espresso not Expresso.

Hot from me x Enjoy will pop in my local fingers crossed
Hot. Well done on the bargain.
Well done OP! Just waiting for the bleating masses to moan as it's not available at their local store and mark the deal cold. Heat given even though you're miles away from me!
really good price for that but as you say it will be one store clearing stock before I go on a witch hunt to get a spare machine
Oooh nice one Do you have a barcode for this one please? Hopefully we can see if others are able to find it in their locals too.

Thanks - if one person gets one of these as a result of my post, it will have been worthwhile.

Advice: when testing a shiny new coffee machine, try to keep track of the number of cups. Five espressos on the bounce can be a mistake - especially if you haven't read the manual and the machine is set to 'extra strong'. Boing!

Wise words!

We've got an ESAM 4200 and I did just that when I tested the thing. I was pacing about feeling giddy and anxious. What didn't help was me making enough undiluted espresso to fill a mug or two...

One thing has become apparent - a bag of beans seems to disappear more quickly than the same size bag of ground - either that, or I've suddenly started drinking way too much java.

Cam anyone recommend a source of good quality (and good value) beans?
None left at Kingston park :-/
Will have to keep an eye out!
Ohhh I want one at this price please
Got it for 200 on amazon in may 2014. Great machine even though the milk wand ain't great at all (I work in a bar and tend to make lots of latte art coffees and that wand ain't great for that, yet it still does the job- heat up milk):)
Worth buying if you a coffee addict:)

Lavazza espresso beans - reasonable cheap 2 for £5 at Asda is the "base" quality most people who like coffee go for. I can vouch for it, good for espresso (obviously) and anything with frothed milk.
The Rosa beans which the the cheapo lavazza beans not half bad for standard coffee, very smooth but with some flavour, nothing special, useless for anything where definition is needed.

If you want "good" distinct coffee, best spending more and just trying stuff out. The supermarket stuff is generally rubbish or a bit odd in flavour and not well balanced, even the expensive stuff. Easy to get a bit sick of it.

Brian Wogan (google) reasonable stuff and good price and you can have fun trying different types out at fair price.
Just seen this bit don't get out of work until 3.30
Saved me a short trip and wanted a bean to cup for a while now
Heat added anyway
I've got a slightly different model to this one (ESAM4200), it's a great machine.
My top tip is that after a few weeks of use the coffee will start to taste weaker.
This is due to the burr grinder wearing in.
When this happens adjust the grinder for a finer grind (this can only be done whilst the machine is grinding, otherwise turning the wheel has no effect)
I got the ESAM2600 last xmas and it's a wonderful coffee maker. Can't live without the rich espressos. Just make sure that you get a proper air tight coffee container and only add coffee you know you'll use. Otherwise if you leave your coffee in the built-in compartment, it will deteriorate and the taste will not be the same as fresh from air-tight.

I use Brown Bear coffee - the beans are real good (I love the Breakfast Blend) and they have discount vouchers on their Twitter etc - I had a 20% off emailed to me the other day making the bags around £2.40.

I also like M+S Beans I think they are about £3.60. They are on a 3 for 2 atm making the bags around £2.50.

Sainsburys espresso beans are good for the price usually £2.30. But ikea beans not bad either
