Got mine for £179 at Argos a couple of years ago, but I'd happily buy again at this price if mine broke. Excellent first bean to cup machine, don't hesitate if you're hesitating.

Pretty new to coffee machine...How does this compare with the ESAM 2800?
Been tempted by a bean to cup coffee machine for a while now, thanks for posting!

Sage barista is more manual - good or bad depending on what you want! Will ultimately make a better cup of coffee if you put the effort in and you get to play barista. This one is pretty much ‘press button, get coffee’.

horses for courses

barista is double the price too however

if you meant the small one for £229 in JL then that’s not a bean to cup - you’ll have to use ground coffee, bought ground or ground yourself.

The difference between the newer and older ones without a carafe is mostly just looks. The one notable difference is that the grinders are significantly louder on older models like the corso and the 4200.

Thanks dude!
Good price, but as others have said it has been cheaper in the past. I have this machine and it makes nice coffee, just make sure you use decent beans.
Got the Argos deal a couple years ago for £179, still going strong! Recommended!
Does this also dispense hot water for tea? Don't really want this and a kettle?
I bought this same one from Tesco's 3 years ago for £160 :/

It does but if only drinking tea best to use a kettle.

Not true. Hot water is dispensed through steamer.

Well not strictly true. You can leave it set to coffee and then open the steam nozzle. You will get a lovely spluttering flow of less than boiling water to make cloudy tea.

If you never use the machine for coffee you could just use it as a kettle that pumps out 85deg water.
This is brilliant Best Buy of last year, bought through Argos eBay with 20% off for £160 Black Friday. Would pay £199 this time round if I didn’t have it. Voted hot great machine
We have the 4200 model and I presume that this model isn't much different? Cracking deal for a first bean to cup machine, simple to use, lovely fresh coffee to your taste, easy to maintain.
I actually find it quicker to use the machine to make a couple of mugs of fresh coffee than to boil the kettle and make 2 mugs of instant.
Great deal for a bean to cup had mine for the past 8years

Thanks folks - I would use it for coffee. My wife only drinks tea tho. Currently using an Aeropress which does the job nicely anyway.
Thanks, but sounds like this isn't right for me.

I had for two years the one I post. It's great. However now I'd pay extra for the flash one. That said when comes to milk drinks.made automatically imo not worth the hasstle and clean up. I just make milk on hob and whisk and add. So much easier. If like black or just white coffee take the cheap one

I bought the 4200 for home use and was impressed.

This model (2800) was on amazon on 28 december 2016 for £170.99 new so I bought one for use at work.

They are identical machines, just different colours on the outside and different knobs.

The 4200 knobs look better than the 2800 but after a few years use, the casing on the 2800 looks better than the 4200.

Both still make excellent coffee

Yes it's worth it just for black or white coffee. I mostly only use/used my delonghi's for black coffee and they're miles better than a moka pot, which i had before.

Shame you can't try before you buy. Moka pot makes some seriously decent coffee, better that most high street coffee shops.
I don’t drink coffee anymore, I used to love it but, caffeine isn’t good for me!

My wife still does though and has been using a Tassimo I bought her a couple of years ago. Environmentally, it’s a nightmare and I’d like to get her a replacement that will taste as good (probably better) but won’t be hugely more inconvenient to use.

Could this me what I’m looking for?

This will definitely taste better. Just as easy to use. Excluding the environmental impact of a new machine I imagine buying whole roasted beans to use in a bean to cup machine is more environmentally friendly than Tassimo.

Pod coffee not as bad for the environment as you may think by the way. A pre measured exact amount of coffee and hot water used for each drink. Whilst of compared to filter coffee where users typically use too much coffee / water the environmental impact of packaging is similar to the wasted energy.

Anyone's having issues were grinder seems to be grinding to much coffee beens and then lots of grinded coffee is scattered inside machine.
Got this every time I get coffee
Edited by: "adi23232323" 25th Nov 2019
It's worth mentioning that this machine is entirely serviced from the front. ie the water tank and old coffee grounds are accessed from the front, rather than having to faff around the back or side. Might make a big difference to you, depending on where you intend to site the machine.
Beans go in the top, under a flap.

You need to lubricate/clean the brew unit inside. It's not difficult, but be patient and careful. I have to do this every 6 months or so, but we use our machine about a dozen times a day.

Would also recommend- I love my coffee - I very rarely buy coffee takeaway now as this machine makes such great coffee and is adjustable for your own preferred strength so makes coffee from shops all taste awful and not worth it . Paid for itself 100 times over - had it for 2 years ! If it broke tomorrow I would buy another ASAP !
Got it couple years ago, never had any problems so far. Great coffee and easy to clean. Buy this plus a couple Contigo travel mugs and it will payback in 5/6 months worth of takeaway coffee (or even a shorter time, depending on your expenditure on high street lattes!).
