Wife was looking out for a new fryer after foolishly trying to fry a steak in our old one (with only a teaspoon of oil - don't try this at home). This ultimately ruined the machine, so here we are.

This DeLonghi seems to fit the bill. It completely dismantles, meaning that all components can simply go into the dishwasher (minus the temperature control panel and timer which come off the body). The trouble with other cheaper fryers is that you have to tip out the oil but overturning the entire unit. Also, when compared to the other style fryers (the rectangular SS ones) you can also close the lid on this. On the others, the lid acts oly as a 'dust cover' meaning that oil sprays are likely and the fumes aren't filtered.

This is a great price when compared to other retailers:

Tesco: £61.25
Currys: £49.99
Comet: £59.99
Dixons: £45.44 (but out of stock)

Thanks guys

Sounds like you would've been better investing in a new wife.

You would now be £44.99 better off.

Sorry to sound like a idiot but what can you cook/how do you cook with this ? can it cook everything that a deep fat fryer can cooks but with out the smell ? Does the food taste the same ? thanks

yep, this is a regular deep fat fryer, allowing you to add calories by the bucket-load. I use mine mostly for frozen chips, scampi or greek meatballs (highly recommend). I've also tried baby squid, lightly floured and a hint of lemon...what a treat!! Be warned though that these fryers do require quite a lot of oil (roughly 1.5 - 2 litres worth).

The only difference with this particular machine is that all the parts can come off and can be put in the dishwasher. Most cheaper fryers are a pain to clean (so i've been told!). The lid also has a rubber seal and a filter at the top which prevents most of the smelly fumes escaping into your kitchen.

if there's anything else you'd like to know pleasee drop us a message. thanks!

Ordered. Thanks.

Hi - I am looking to buy one of these too, so pleased to come across this. Did the one you ordered from Amazon come with the digital timer unit with it too? And if with the timer, does the timer switch the machine off when it comes to the end of the time, or just alert you that the food is cooked? Many thanks in advance.

Hi there, sorry for then delay in getting back to your question. The timer is a very small screen which can be removed from the main body - you have to remove it when putting the whole unit in the dishwasher and its great if you want to carry the timer around with you in the kitchen. It is just a timer i.e. you set the time required (in 1 minute steps) and it will beep when the time is up. to turn off the machine, you have to move the temperature slider all the way down.

hope that helps

ciao!
