We've been using an earlier version of this machine since 2005! Apart from occasional replacement of hardened 'o' rings it has been an absolute champ. Thousands of coffees. Still going strong, will be buried with full military honours when it finally expires.

What "3 programmes" does it have?

I've had this machine for nearly 2 years, and it has just the one programme - "espresso".

Every other dial/button on this is to change the amount/strength of espresso.

It’s has the coffee program
The just water program
And the just milk programs
3 programs, all something different

I owned a similar machine and it was an espresso machine, anything else you wanted you had to figure out ratios etc and do it yourself. It also got dirty very quickly inside which led to awful results..

I'm not suggesting for one minute you didn't clean yours but if I didn't clean mine as often as I do then I would agree with you on this that is does seem to build up quite alot of grounds in places it probably shouldn't. Handheld Dyson comes in really handy for this.

Might some cash back through “TopCashback”

We have a similar machine at work and over the past 2 and a half years it has made approximately 20000 coffee and it hasn't missed a beat. Bargain at that price. Pity you can only vote hot once!

I want one , can't justify it for a few cups of coffee

I have a simmilar cafe machine for the last 8 years. If you and not to go dirty, you just need to grease the brew unit . Then will be like new.

Good deal.. It's a good machine.... Results come from the coffee beans you buy.. Quality shows.. Even storage can become an issue...if the Coffee beans gain moisture it's game over... For coffee beans I use house of whitttard and the coffee bean container I purchased from amazon... Called coffee gator but ther is a new one called coffee vault (Zurich) which is bigger in size and cheaper...

I got one brilliant better coffee than shops, only problem now is I’m a coffee snob can’t drink instant, a 250g bag of beans cost about £3 and last bout 2 weeks if you have 2 cups a day so good value better than them pods!

De Longhi bean to cup are good machines. I’ve had mine for 5 years now. I use ASDA bottled water in it, the one with really low calc called gb52 and just clean it once a year. Much better coffee temperature than the last machine, a Krups. Great price and even Lidl are selling coffee beans now

How does this compare to the 2800 which was on offer at Amazon and Tesco last week ?

dude, you start off with knowledge about coffee then say whittard. The beans are already stale before they reach whittards store.

rather drink instant than anything from a bean to cup or pod machine. Neither can produce real espresso.

Don't rely on TCB from AO, still chasing a black friday "coffee machine" cashback promo from last year, think they did a few people out of it on here!

I recommend Pact coffee for fresh beans. Ok, it's not cheap compared to the options listed above, but it's premium quality coffee, freshly roasted, for a better price than most other comparable suppliers, and they usually deliver next day (it's actually a subscription service, but I prefer to set my subscription interval to a long time and go in and press "ship today" when I want more coffee).

I certainly wouldn't go that far. At home I drink espresso made with my manual espresso machine and grinder. But at work we have a Nespresso machine. Now I wouldn't say that the Nespresso is nearly as good as my home machine - but it's still a lot better than instant. Even my Italian colleague approves of it.

I don't really have experience of domestic bean-to-cup machines but I'd expect them to be better than pod machines - otherwise what's the point?

If i press the "steam nozzle" button, does it magically make me a cappuccino? No.

Just FYI, looking at the Delonghi official website (delonghi.com/en-…096) shows this is now a discontinued product, which may explain the price as retailers move to clear stock.

I have no idea if the parts are generic when considering repairs / product lifespan (I suspect they are), to be honest this is more of a comment on the fact that this specific deal / model may not be around for long, or likely to come around again!

Voted hot - trying to avoid the caffeine addict in me blowing £200 on this, but does seem a bargain for a quality product.

We bought the silver version of this between a few of us at work just over 6 months ago and between us we get through about 400g of beans a day! Turned on at 8:00 and switched itself off at the end of the day.

The thing has not missed a beat all we've done is descaled it when required and on a regular basis cleaned the inside.

The steamer isnt great, dont expect to be making arty lattes
The used ground container light comes on after 14 measures

Would not hesitate to buy another, the small bean hopper means you dont fill it with beans for them to degrade.

Not machine related but Coffee related.
Whats type of a coffee is milky and creamy, smooth, not strong yet sweet.
Im normally a Tea drinker but I was offered a coffee and thats what I can describe.

Thanks very much, op.May I ask anyone who has this machine about how stiff the controls are, please? My hands aren't great, so need something easy to turn/switch. TIA.

Very easy... the strength and amount dials have no resistance to them at all, the only one that does is the on / off for the steamer part which you'd only use when frothing milk.

Go for it!

Can you make a cappuccino without the nozzle? No.
Can the machine make things other than espresso? Yes.

I don't think this type of messages is helping people on this thread. If you can't reply without condescending remarks with the purpose of belittling fellow hukders than just don't say anything. There's already enough grieve in the world without you adding to it.

Peace

p.s. In case you feel the need to have the last word, feel free as I won't bother replying as it only serves to inflame the situation (and your ego).

I have an esam4000. Done 6 years plus at 5 per day. Cost me about £50-60 in serviceable items. It’s part of the family.

Back up to £239 now. I’ve just had two fabulous coffees. Beats my nespresso hands down 😋
