Be aware, this price does not include the cost of buying a new TV when you chuck your controller through your existing one in frustration.

lol very true. But in all seriousness, a truely brilliant game. This is how i remember gaming used to be, hard as sh*t and if you were not good enough to do an area, then tough!! Games these days hold your hand and even the most lackluster gamer can complete 99% of games out there, but not this one.

Warning, if you're 'Average' at games, leave this well alone.

Your advise has been headed! I'll keep away from this as a casual gamer. Thanks.

I think that an average gamer would be fine with this, provided you have an excellent level of patience. Give it time and love and you'll get a lot of rewards. Works great when playing with a friend too :-)

I can't work out if i actually liked this game or not. It's sort of fun for a while then the frustration kicks in. I know they made it hard on purpose but it would have been nice to have a couple of save points in each level.

Everytime I hear or see this game, it makes me want a PS3, now with the CFW that's also making me want one. Might have to take the plunge this week, what's the best offer? Also heat added for an amazing game!

Amazing game- cant WAIT for Dark Souls, its follow-up-in-spirit, released on 360 and PS3 in November.

WIN!

My experience:

Play game. Get angry. Turn off game. Turn game back on. Repeat.

Four months later, 2nd level...

Sell game.

But voted hot on the basis it is a good game and good deal. But seriously, it is RIDICULOUSLY difficult and will drive you mildly insane.

I have a friend like that, except he does it with every game that isnt as easy as CoD or FIFA.

Well i ordered i yesterday, thought i'd give it a go

The game isn't that hard - you just need to invest some time in it, and be patient. If you are struggling with a particular level, try somewhere else, or level up a but more/improve your weapons. I took me about 40 hours to play through the game as a Templar Knight class, and I enjoyed pretty much every minute of it (even the grinding).

Best game released in the last two years, imho, and a great example of online features being added in a unique and innovative way.

I wrote a review of the game here, if anyone is interested: theaveragegamer.com/201…s3/

this game has got a steep learning curve, but it gets so much easier after the first 2/3 stages that you play. Just stick with it!

really looking forward to what dark souls has to offer...

Demon's Souls = The gaming anti-christ.

Anyone who still hasn't bought this great game yet should definitely buy it NOW!! The US servers are only guaranteed until November this year and I have no idea when the European servers are going to close (possibly around the same time). The online element is the best aspect of this game imho and is truly unique so you don't want to miss out.

okay i hate to be stupid but what is the online element to this game? cause as far as i am aware i am just progressing throguh the story on my own, currently fighting the damn tower night lol, i find it hard enough just getting past the two blue eyed knights at the end of the ramparts..

When playing the game online, you never feel truly alone, due to the … When playing the game online, you never feel truly alone, due to the anonymous messaging system where other players can leave notes, warnings or even cries for help printed on the ground. You will also witness the ghosts of other players drifting through your world, acting as prophets of impending doom or sometimes just a reminder that ‘you are not alone’. The online features also include a co-op system, where players can call upon those who are perhaps more experienced, to assist them in their quest. The flip side to this altruistic element is the occasional appearance of a hostile ‘Red Phantom’ – the soul of a player from another game, who has invaded with one thing on their mind – your death and the subsequent return of their own corporeal form. Such occasions can fill you with genuine terror, as you struggle against the game itself and the extra threat of a human player baying for your blood.

hmm how do i get sum1 to help me out if im playing then? am yet to come across help or a red phantom though ive seen plenty of the ghostly forms and writing

Hey joeprosho - to get help, you need to firstly be alive, then come across a Blue Phantom mark on the ground (glowing blue writing, like the red messages). It will tell you about the character offering their services, and you can choose to summon them, or not. I called up three Blue Phantoms during my play through, all of which were helpful.

The Red Phantoms are people invading your game, trying to kill you and reclaim their own soul. You will find them further into the game, usually - at least that is what I found. I killed about four or five during my playthrough, and got killed by one.

The official Demon's Souls Wiki is a great source of information - it is written and maintained by the same guys that wrote the Black Phantom Edition guide. I personally found the Wiki site much more helpful than the guide.

cheers carrot, ive read a lot of that wiki but must say u answered my questions very concisely there and it all made sense! just killed the tower night which was very satisfying, ive made it to the spider niw but i kinda wanna kill that red eyed night in 1-1 first... feels like i have unfinished business there, ive got an over inflated steength stat just so i can equip that fire sheild which seems just as effective as any other shield in reality so i feel my stats could have been better spent.. but hey ho ill live with my decisions, i am yet to be able to do any magic or miracles though, not sure how they work yet......

o i have to speak to sumone in the nexus and buy spells, u just dont get told any of this stuff lol! and to think i have been wasting all my time with melee... tut tut

I would leave that Red Eye Knight well alone for the time being - you don't actually have to go down that path until much later in the game, by which point you should be well equipped to take him on without any trouble.

Did you pick up the Cling Ring, near the first Blue Eyed Knight - I missed it and had to go back, but it is probably the most important ring in the game. demonssouls.wikidot.com/cli…ing

If I were you, I would head to Stonefang Tunnel next:

demonssouls.wikidot.com/wal…2-1

I played the game as a Templar Knight, and beat it with a combination of Melee and Bow/Arrow, along with some (mostly defensive) miracles. Melee is pretty tough though, especially against some of the bosses, and I believe it is much easier to suceed with magic. What class are you playing, joeprosho?

If you are interested, there is a Demon's Souls help thread on HUKD, started by our very own DS expert, [email protected] If you need any more help, you could post on there, and I am sure he would be happy to come of retirement to assist. The thread does contain spoilers though, so be careful reading through it:

hotukdeals.com/mis…e=1

ive got the cling ring, just playing it as a knight, seeing as though he is the dude on the front cover it made sense to me lol, ive got a little crappy bow so i think im gonna just grind some souls and then level that up a little and take on the spider, thinking about it i killed the tower knigth second time facing him so wasnt to shabby, but i have seen this spider and it seems like im gna have to spend a lot of time running and diving again lol unless my little box could actually do sum damage....

and then there is miracles to get to grips with aswell.. have no souls left to buy anything its all foolishly gone on strength...

p.s cheers for your help though, the game makes a fair bit more sense now

No worries - I asked Andy, and he is happy to help you out on the DS thread that I linked to above. He has played the game through about 4 times, and has the Platinum trophy, so he is a pretty handy chap to ask for advice.

Ordered.
Expecting to get destroyed in the early going!
