This is a very good game. The only problem is I played Dark Souls before I played this and so I didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as if I had played the series in order of release.

Alwaysskipthefirstsentence;dr: Play this before you play Dark Souls. Very good purchase at £4.
This is awesome
I found it impossibly hard yet found DS2 OK, maybe I need to revisit...
A steal at this price. Easily the best one of the Souls games.
So much better than Dark Souls 1 and 2 (both where fantastic by the way).
Word of advice (for new players).... In world-level 2-1, if you need time away from playing, or want to look at your inventory more, don't do it directly in front of Blacksmith Ed... I accidentally brushed against R2 (whilst looking at my inventory) and shield bashed him, meaning all 'Demon's Souls' upgrades were off limits for the rest of that playthrough... Still, I completed it, and had a whale of a time even without the ability to upgrade, by the time i thought about NG+ though other games had released.

About to finish the platinum on DS2, definitely preferred DS1 - looking forward to this shame I've left it til last
It's awesome. Pretty much the best JRPG of the gen imo for like £4. Amazing price

I found this much better than both Dark Souls 1 + 2. Can not wait for Bloodbourne. Looks amazing.
One of the best games of all time. No question

Okay, Someone's gonna have to explain how this is better than Dark Souls 1 because in my opinion it goes DKS1>DKS2>DES (which happens to be the order I played them in)

I found Demon's souls to be much, much easier. I died less than 15 times, During the entire play-through.
It had much shallower combat with a fraction of the weapons and armours of DKS1
The game is linear, I love the interconnected world of DKS1... Wandering down a staircase and thinking "Holy Balls, I'm here??"
The game felt "janky", just didn't play as well as DKS1.. I assume this is because they got to fix a lot of issues with the sequel.

Both times I got invaded I rolled the invader's beans, despite the enormous lag issues.

One of the best games I've ever played. I imported it years ago for £40 (the most I've paid for a game since the SNES days) & haven't regretted it ever.
Cold.. this was free on Xbox Live..

lol im not really voting.. just spicing this up a bit

this game is not even available on XBOX 360 or Live though, it was PS3 exclusive..
Dark souls. Ps3 release only
Demon souls. Does not follow story of previous game
Demon souls 2.. Still playing it.

Excellent games. Yes hard but not impossible, just need to take your time in some areas and run like mad in others.. Nvr regretted any of these games

Soooooo much atmosphere. It was also refreshing for once to have a game where nothing is spelled out for you.

"Soul of the mind, key to life's ether.
Soul of the lost, withdrawn from its vessel.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended."

In the hub area, look around where the Monumental is sitting, so sad. All the games in the series have a story told in atmosphere and paying close attention to your surroundings as well as words but the first one was the best
Great price for a great game that unlike the Dark Souls games unfortunately isn't also on PC.
Great game. Very difficult, but worth it for that price.
Got this on PS+, great but frustrating.

I'm with you on that one Andy. I've still not played the second Dark Souls game but Demon Souls definitely beat Dark Souls for atmosphere. It felt like an infinitely more bleak and hopeless environment. The Nexus, the sound of the Black Maiden's voice, the tolling of the bells in the Prison levels... Etc.

I would say Demons Souls is the best - But arguably you are correct Dark Souls IS better because it builds so much on Demons foundations.
Demons is amazing, but it has its frustrations - World Tendency for example was a cool idea - but also frustrating if you don't know what you are doing.

My comparison would be similar to saying that Devil May Cry is better than Devil May Cry 3 - It isn't because DMC3 improves on DMC in almost every way - but because DMC was so groundbreaking and the foundation for that whole series and genre I would count it as the best.
Mario 64 vs Mario Galaxy or Godfather and Godfather 2 are similar examples!

I have to say that I'm very impressed you only died 15 times on your first Demons playthrough (not sarcasm). It was the first one I played through and it took me a long time to get to grips with the concepts and truly get into the game.

This. The amount of times I got far into a level, got myself to a safe spot so I can go make a brew or have a wee, put the controller down...and when the controller touches the table R2 is accidentally depressed and I do a power attack off a ledge and die - argh!
Hitting O to backstep off a ledge was another good one...

lol, so it wasn't just me.... Just realised shield bash is L2, not R2, but you get the jist.
Jenkiins

The game is linear

What???

Except the first level, you can play any level you want in any order!!!?!?!

Its the most open Soul's game they've made!!!

And the best and most deserved of a sequel.
Can I play this on my PSP or PS4?

Likely not on PSP but maybe on PS4 later with PS NOW service allowing you to play ps3 games.
PS TV will also allow this

Think it depends on your temperament and skill. I class myself as poor at games where you require the kind of skills that this game needs and often play games on ‘easy’ if I know they’re tricky. Sure enough I really struggled when I played this on PS+ and had enough after 2-3 hours. The main issue for both myself and my son, who persevered for longer, was the need to replay the sections before your death. This killed the entertainment factor for me as I dislike repetition. If you could restart close to where you failed last time, and work out how to beat the guy, I would have played for longer as the ‘feel’ of the game was very good. For £3.99, it would be worth buying to see what it’s all about for yourself, but prepare for some frustration if you don’t have the patience or time to keep replaying parts of the game while you get better at the combat system.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give it a miss because I'm rubbish at games to and if a game becomes hard work rather then entertaining then I'll just throw it away. Where it may join the controller that I've just thrown across the room. lol
