If you're watching stuff in your living room, probably not. This sort of kit should be used in a dedicated home cinema room.
Your need a decent sized room to accommodate a 11.2 setup like this. There's no disputing it's a great amp however for most households a 7.2 setup is far more practical with a saving of around £900 to £1,000.

No it ain't, real hype on prices last 10 years! Give this design to a good Chinese firm and with 100% quality these would cost you 150 max delivered!! Any one in hifi industry seems to be loving these stupid profits

The question ought to be, can you get it cheaper.. This is not for everyone and plenty out there buying other makes for a lot less but if you're in the market for a Denon (other makes of yoghurt also available) then this appears to be a good price.
It is a large price hike for jumping from a 7.2 setup to a 11.2. My Denon AVR 2400 cost £299 from RS in the day and performs perfectly well in my 31 sq m outbuilding. Room size and practicality also limits me from having multiple speakers everywhere. At 100w RMS across 7 channels, I certainly don't need anything more powerful at this moment in time.

As i stated before it's a great amp but a huge price increase for 4 additional speaker channels when comparing it against an equivilant 7 channel setup.
