Good price.
I went to Richer Sounds yesterday. They discounted another £10 off. Also paid for my parking (£3). So it pays to go in-store.
I went to the Norwich store today, they had one left in stock which was opened by customer then returned as it wouldn't work with his bluray player....£295 :))

Great upgrade to my older Denon AVRX-2000

I have the AVR-X2000 in spare room, and just got this for living room after old amp went - was curious at what compelled you to upgrade?
Great amp at a great price
they've been this price at quite a few places for a while now
I brought this the other day but returned it to RS and swapped it for an onkyo nr646.

Just didn't get on with the denon although the auto calibration on the denon is miles better than the onkyo

Can anyone recommend a good (ideally slimline) amp with Spotify Connect built in?

Can I ask why you didn't get on with the Denon? It's a model I have been considering for a while as an upgrade.
Great receiver and a good price - not quite the cheapest ever (I bought it for £300 from Richer a few months ago) but it's well worth 329 regardless. Once setup correctly it's a really good receiver particularly if you have a 4K source, I am very happy with it.

Remember to disable its up scaling ("scaler" In the settings - your TV will do a much better job at up scaling to 4K) and do the speaker calibration and you should be happy

Only negative I had is that the AirPlay functionality can be flakey, but it's not something I ever use so has not really been a problem. Rock solid through Bluetooth, usb or HDMI though

Have some heat, best price around from a decent store and they will usually do decent speaker bundles with these too.

I had an Onkyo 609, it failed with the HDMI board failure, it was replaced with a 626 (I think) this had a humming transformer just a short while after the warranty ran out, so I got £50 back from Richer Sounds and bought a Denon, it's still working.
This or the Onkyo NR646? anybody tried both units, would be interested in your thoughts.
I would much prefer to buy this from Peter Tyson. how much warranty do you get from RS? I know Peter Tyson give 3 years

What this chap said, what was wrong with it ?
I have this amp and can't fault it. I upgraded from and old Onkyo TX-NR807 and have to say the sound on this is much better. I know I'm comparing old tech with new but I much prefer the sound of the denon. My Onkyo broke a few times with the known HDMI issue but was a good workhorse. The only reason I upgraded was for 4K and to be honest I haven't looked back. I was looking at the onkyo and went in with the intention of buying the pioneer. I paid £500 at the end of last year and it's worth that all day long to at this price it's a bargain!

Had an Onkyo before (NR616)which has lasted me over 3 years and no problems. The sales people in the store all said go for the NR646 as thats what they were currently using in there demo room but i didnt listen because i though i wanted a change.

Denon is miles better for the Audyssey auto calibration but apart from that i just didn't get on with it. The Onkyo is also a passive amp so no hunting to turn scaling off.

They are both very similar and good amps for there price.
