I heard the same, they are focussing fully on their yoghurt business.

Great amp - if want to get most of it but the Audyssey app on Android or apple store
Any recommendations on one of these but with phono inputs for a turntable ?

I have this amp and the denon dp-300f turntable. The turntable has a preamp so no need for turntable phono inputs. I have mine plugged direct into the aux connectors. A lot of other brands also have built in preamps.

Do you know anything about premium audio? Onkyo are a cheap Chinese brand! Denon is at Sony levels of premium quality.

Depends on the price difference. Sony is a bit better but not £100 worth of difference. Once you’re upwards of 400 you may as well put the extra to a Denon 3400 which blows these 2 out of the water.

Cheers I don’t have a deck with a built in preamp but currently have an old amp with one. So if I got a separate preamp I could just do aux out into this denon amp?

Why steer clear? If I buy anything Onkyo now and they then cease producing AV equipment, will whatever I've bought instantly dissolve into the ether?

If you want something more stereo focussed with Phono input have a look at the Yamaha RN 602. It can be had for under £300 from Superfi at the moment if you use a code.
Is there much point in getting something like this if all we watch is Netflix and amazon prime video? Not even bothered upgrading our blue ray player. I assume streaming is still only simple DD 5.1. Our old Sony amp surround sound handles it currently. Or is this amp a real step up on the basics too?

Seems like it is you that knows nothing about premium audio. Onkyo is Japanese and is the same company as Pioneer. Very much on a level with Denon who are the same company as Marantz. There is little or nothing to choose between them in terms of quality. A cheap Chinese brand they are not, but the Chinese now make some of the best premium audio in the world. Oppo (a Chinese company) made the best rated Bluray players, headphones etc. and have only just announced that they will stop making premium audio.

It's an old hukd meme when onkyo is mentioned, someone called Loughboroughguy said something similar to Dudleyguy in innocent seriousness and the thread went wild.
