DALI ZENSOR 1 SPEAKERS

The versatile Zensor 1 is ideal as an all-round stereo loudspeaker, perfectly suited to small or medium sized rooms. It also works excellently as front speaker in a 2.1 surround set-up or as back speaker in 5.1 systems including subwoofer, as the distinguished and discreet sound resource it is.

Distinguished by well-known DALI signatures such as the light yet stiff wood fibre cones delivering a highly dynamic, detailed, and undisturbed sound reproduction, while ultra-low mass dome tweeter material ensures a widely extended frequency range. Discreet by its dimensions (H: 27.4 x W: 16.2 x D: 22 cm), 6-litre cabinet, and its design dressed in high-gloss lacquer finish that blends perfectly into a modern day interior.

having had a networked Onkyo mini system I now find that a Chromecast audio with an older mini system that has a digital input works just as well for a fraction of the price. Still these speakers are £299 on their own so this is a great deal.

Agree with all of this. Plus the cheapest for system only in £279 so this is a good deal. I've just bought some KEF Q100s in white that would go great with this. Tempted to buy and sell speakers!
Is there a more compact equivalent of a chromecast, don't really want it dangling out the front of my denon system

Mine's dangling out of the back of my RCD-N8 (so to speak), via Optical.

Not sure how much more compact they could make the audio Chromecast and still have it find decent Wi-Fi. Plus most amps have input at the back for optical or get a red white to 3.5mm cable which is what I've done!
Very tempted, bit undecided between this and pair of Sonos Play ones

just be careful the speakers are only going for £100-£150 on eBay pron due to people not knowing dali / cost of shipping

I have 2 Play 1s - suspect the Denon/Zalis will sound better but the beauty of the sonos stuff is that each speaker is compact and standalone, i.e. they don't need to connect by wire to an amp, so can be very flexible re placement etc - also can run them as a pair or singly in different rooms etc. However, if this is not important to you and you intend to set it up in one location, leave it there permanently I would probably go for the Denon tbh.
Only just noticed it's FM radio, would have preferred DAB, not really interested in Internet radio. Main reason for looking at this is the CD player, which would allow me to use my large CD collection as well as digital stuff on PC. May see if there is alternative with similar spec and DAB.

How does this compare to the Denon DM40 with the Zensor 1s?

Cheers
Looks smart but still more than I would be willing to pay, voted hot for price.
