This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Cheapest price I've ever seen it and currently includes a £40 amazon voucher whilst stocks last. But if you prefer, Richer sounds will price beat so can get this for 935.

This is a 9 channel amp but with 11 pre out so possible 7.2.4 with an extra 2 channels of amplification. Only thing missing is HDMI 2.1 but no AVRs have this yet. If you really want to power the speakers more try a iotavx 7 channel amp for powering the speakers via the pre outs.

Pair this up with Monitor bronze, Dali or Q Acoustics 3010 and a BK Subwoofer and you are sorted. If buying new speaker cable do long as its 2.5mm oxygen free copper you'll fine and it's alot cheaper than branded cables sold in stores. 2.5mm will cover you upto 30metres per speaker, and 1.5mm should be OK upto about 7metres.

”Another winning amplifier from Denon.” ’What Hi-Fi?’ 2019 Product of the Year.

9-channel surround sound
With 9.2 channels of sound, the AVR-X3600H gives you a wide range of surround sound and multi-room options. Choose between 7.2.2 or 5.2.4 Dolby Atmos speaker configurations with two or four ceiling speakers. Alternatively, stick with 5.2.2 and power a second pair of speakers in another room or bi-amp your main pair of speakers. As your system grows, so the capability of this Denon AVR grows with it.

Max up the Atmos
Featuring an 11.2 channel pre-output, you can take the AVR-3600H to the next level of Dolby Atmos – 7.2.4. With this configuration, you get seven surround speakers, four ceiling speakers and two subs, for incredibly immersive surround sound. Just add an additional 2-channel amp, and you’re ready to go.

Power for all speakers
Benefiting from a punchy 105 watts per channel, the AVR-X3600H has the ability to drive a wide range of different speakers – even in larger rooms. High grade audio components mean this AV receiver isn’t just about power, it’s about quality, too, making it just as impressive with music as it is with movies. When it comes to processing power, the 32-bit AKM convertors make this Denon AVR smooth and adaptable with all audio files, including Hi-Res files such as DSD 5.6, FLAC and WAV.

IMAX Enhanced Technology
IMAX has partnered with DTS and award-winning Hollywood sound mixers to deliver stunning levels of sound quality. Only the highest quality home cinema equipment meets the standard. IMAX enhanced content is due on HDR streaming and UHD Blu-ray and promises to offer the next step-up in sound from the already impressive DTS:X.

Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and DTS Neural:X for cinematic sound
Dolby Atmos uses ceiling or upwards firing speakers to produce a multi-dimensional, immersive sound that's a match for the finest cinemas. DTS:X literally pushes the boundaries of what you can expect from home cinema. It renders images in three dimensions that conventional processing can't match. DTS Neural:X upmixer supports Dolby formats, giving you DTS surround whatever the format.

Extra height, without the speakers - Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X
It's not always possible to accommodate Atmos height speakers, which is when Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization comes in handy. Play any Dolby format and enjoy a more immersive sound with virtual height enhancement – using your existing speakers. DTS Virtual:X also creates a more enveloping sound from any DTS codec. Compatible with 2, 5.1 or 7.1 speaker configurations, DTS Virtual:X gives the impression of height and immersive sound.

Advanced multi-room functionality including two-zone HDMI and sound
The AVR-X3600H has an impressive three HDMI outputs with an independent zone 2. This means you can run audio and video to another screen, in another room - independently from the main, twin outputs. With nine channels of power, the AVR-X3600H has the option of running a set of speakers in another room, while still offering Atmos 5.2.2 home cinema in the main room. An RS-232C socket and DC trigger make this receiver ideal for professional home installation systems.

Voice control via Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices
Controlling a sophisticated AV receiver like this can be baffling for some members of the family, which is why Denon have made it compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices. Simply download the HEOS Home Entertainment Skill app and then just ask Alexa or the Google Assistant to perform functions such as volume and source selection. Using the Apple Home App, Siri voice control from your Apple iOS device brings added functionality over AirPlay 2 – including grouping devices.

HEOS built-in - for the finest multi-room audio
HEOS multi-room music systems connect together by dual-band Wi-Fi, making them easy to set up with your existing home network. Up to 32 HEOS units can be set up at one time, ensuring even the largest of homes are covered for multi-room music. With HEOS already built-in, the AVR-X3600H is ready to go as a single 'zone' without any further adaptors.

Control it all with the HEOS app
Once you've set up your HEOS speaker system, you can stream music effortlessly via the dedicated HEOS app. Available for Apple iOS, Android and Amazon Kindle, the app not only lets you stream your stored music but also Internet radio services and popular streaming services such as Spotify, Tidal, Napster and Deezer.

Support for Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG and eARC
Ideal for pairing with your high-end video sources, the AVR-X3600H is compatible with an extensive range of formats. It supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, Dolby, HLG and HDCP 2.2, which means you can play UHD Blu-ray discs and stream UltraHD video in the highest quality. It’s also compatible with the latest eARC HDMI connectivity for enhanced TV to AVR features.

Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, DLNA and built-in wi-fi for the complete networking experience
With both Bluetooth and AirPlay 2 connectivity it's easy to connect all your smartphones, tablets and compatible lap/desktops and stream music wirelessly. The Denon also comes with wi-fi, Internet radio and DLNA. Simply connect to your home network via Ethernet or wi-fi and access thousands of Internet radio sites via vTuner as well as subscription services such as Spotify Connect Premium Spotify account required). DLNA compatibility lets you stream from other sources such as your laptop or NAS drive.

Connect more – including a turntable
As well as eight HDMI inputs, including one at the front, the Denon also has a wide range of other AV connectivity. Older AV sources are catered for with component and composite inputs. Optical digital inputs are ideal for connecting older devices or upgrading the sound from a compatible CD/Network player. Five analogue inputs are perfect for Hi-Fi components, with the dedicated MM phono input ideal for plugging in a turntable.

Take home cinema closer than ever to the real thing, with the Denon AVR-X3600H.

The x3500 already supports 7 channels so you can do 5.1.2 like i have with my x2300. Personally I would go 5.1.4 but some prefer 7.1.2.
I’ve already set up 7.1. Was thinking of going 7.1.2

5.1.2 should give a better experience than 7.1, height adds a more noticeable benefit over extra rears but as you already have an ok receiver you might as well hang on a few months until these drop nearer to £500.

7.1 used to be hit and miss as few films bothered to make 7.1 tracks but now you have object based sound (atmos, dtsx) rears get more use as the engineer doesn't need to assign sound to each speaker. However placing rears can be a pain as most are like myself a sofa against the wall.
I would also consider the Yamaha RX-A1080, as it is on offer for £799 at the moment. They run cooler than the Denon and are generally more reliable. The Yamaha also looks far more expensive than the Denon.

This is a 9 channel AV though, and has my preferred room calibration. No contest with the looks, the Yamaha looks great!

Agreed, but you're still looking at gaining a bit more of what you already have or something you have none of. People assume heights are just for effects which can be very hit and miss but I've found the biggest gain is the height it to the front stage it adds which can be appreciated at all times.

To be honest, getting your settee even a metre off the back wall will be a better upgrade to the overall sound than money spent on hardware.

True but the only way to get the wife to agree having the sofa a meter away from the wall is to have a £20,000 extension

Best time of year to buy an AV receiver is Spring/summer when the new models have been released and the previous-year is being fire saled. Expect this to fall somewhere between £300 and £500 (downside of this strategy is that you never know if the last price drop was the last one before they sell out).

It is risky, but it does work just keep an eye out. Usually a 50% reduction so expect this to go to 499 for about a week

My TV does HDMI 2.1 too, LG C9, still works fine with my denon x2300 over hdmi 2.0b. I'll likely get the denon x3700 if it supports HDMI 2.1 so that it matches the source material from a PS5 next year.
