Twelfth album, following 2005's 'Playing The Angel', from the only credible new romantic survivors, whose constant updating of their dark and seductive sound has won them successive generations of loyal fans. This album, which has been hailed by some critics as their best work to date, has an abrasive, retro analogue synth sound consistent with their recent material. Available in a variety of formats, it again features songwriting contributions from frontman Dave Gahan and includes the single 'Wrong'.

1. In Chains
2. Hole To Feed
3. Wrong
4. Fragile Tension
5. Little Soul
6. In Sympathy
7. Peace
8. Come Back
9. Spacewalker
10. Perfect
11. Miles Away/The Truth Is
12. Jezebel
13. Corrupt

great price.

wow

Great album (with a few fillers), but not as strong as a majority of their earlier material.

Still managing to fill arenas & stadiums across the world, though; unlike some of their (foreign & domestic) contemporaries (who, arguably, should have stopped years ago).

Followed DM for 25 yrs. Absolutely love them.

too true

Great band, still prefer their early stuff.

I bought Playing The Angel when it came out, can't say it's been played that much.

Good that they are still going though.

hot deal but dull album. imo they haven't made a good album since Songs of Faith and Devotion

SOFAD is one of their worst albums - in fact the only one I don't own.

SOTU aint bad, certainly worth £3.45. I paid a lot more for the deluxe boxset.

Great price

nice prix.

I've been a massive DM fan for over 20 years now and have seen them live well over 10 times now. This isn't a bad album but certainly isn't their best - that accolade is still held by Violator - but it does contain some genuinely very good tracks including Wrong, Hole to Feed, Corrupt and In Chains. Unlike some others on here, I really liked Songs of Faith & Devotion too - now that was a very cool album!

BTW - Really early DM stuff was totally pants. I was never a fan of the early new romantics trash they put out.

Depeche Mode were not part of the New Romantic movement.
By association due to the New Wave scene, yes, but they were always an Electronic band.

Indeed - but the popular perception was that their early stuff was 'new romantic' despite being technically incorrect. And they weren't always an electronic band either - Fletch actually played bass with Vince and Martin on Synths in 'Composition of Sound' (the original name for Depeche Mode before Dave Gahan came on board). Fletch begrudgingly switched to playing keyboards after pressure from Vince Clarke.

Thanks for the history lesson.

As I said, Depeche Mode were always an Electronic band.

Composition of Sound, as you rightly mentioned, were not.

I did like their early work

Hehe. I'll begrudgingly admit that there were some early tracks that I really like - Photographic, for example, is superb. It's just tracks like 'Boys Say Go' that lower the standard... lol

Martin's compositions from that era ("Big Muff", & "Tora! Tora! Tora!") showed early promise too.

Vince's chorus to "Nodisco" is in your heard by about.... now!

Re: "Photographic"... Do you have a preference to the 'Mute'-recorded, or to the 'Some Bizzare'-recorded version? I favour the latter (the 'original' version).

Worst album yet. I was gutted.

Do you have "The Singles 81 - 98" MP3 collection?

Or support the artists & purchase this album...

Ahhhh! Looks like I already have it then without even realising... d'oh!

Having seen them live over 10 times and bought virtually every single, album, video, DVD and blu-ray release for the last 20 odd years, I suspect I've done my bit to 'support the artists'

Cheers for the pointer, though
