What's 'old style' about it? It's the only way as far as I know of properly sharpening pencils.
What's the new style?

Are you a teacher?

im happy with my 20 7p sharpeners from viking, they even gave us free
tubs of chocolates.

old school. nice one.

I still have the one I used to sharpen my school pencils when I was about 10 - I'm 52 now. Can't remember where it was bought or what it cost ;-)

Pencils are for losers. Pen's FTW!!!

Good find - thanks OP! It does look like a proper barrel shaver (thanks to the link) - all the ones I have got of eBay have been a single blade 'sharpener' glued to a handle - not the triple grinding action this appears to have...
If you have ever had to sharpen more than 3 pencils in a day you will appreciate this blister saving device (those single blade sharpeners usually result in breaking the lead - which means a lot of work to get a point)
I wonder how much David Rees made from that web site (at least $2500 - 50 X $50 prints. Give or take a few $ for the materials!) Genius!

(Checks body) looks like it:p

Anyway it looks like there is no better way. Good!
Yes these are excellent for sharpening pencils, I have several, also the screw in the centre of the handle should determine the point size.

Thanks OP. These are brilliant. I had one of these when I was in school and have been looking for a cheapish one for my daughter.

lol, is this a joke - thought we were in the 21st century not 19th century

battery power is better and mine was alot cheaper too - about £1 - and a decent make

Brought one from Lidl last year, and unfortunately the one I got was bad, it broke a few weeks of use. Keep your receipt is my recommendation, you may to claim a refund.

No it's not a joke. If yours is better/cheaper show us and/or post it.

I bought one and the clamp is rubbish, you have to hold the body steady, while winding the handle and nudging the pencil forward with your third hand!

Why? The site is about informing people of deals wherever they may be. Some won't benefit from a Macro deal and may vote it cold but that happens. Post it mate.

Great deal, but these things depress me. Remind me to much of school! lol

Picked up two last night (and plenty more on the shelf) but have now run out of pencils to sharpen.
