Just a word of warning....EVERY single Amiibo I've ever purchased and collected from Argos has had badly damaged packaging and I've instantly returned them due to this! This seems to be a very regularly occurring problem with Amiibos from Argos, so definitely worth bearing in mind if you're a 'mint-in-box' collector!
While I am peeved that I bought it at £19.99, I got mine from Nintendo so I have no worry about the condition of the box. Argos however? They can be a bit more flakey on that front. So I'll pay more.

However for anyone who doesn't care about the box this is an absolute steal. Heat added!

They also slap on several stickers to the plastic case which can't be removed easily and leave a residue - for those collectors out there
I had a email from amazon saying the detective pikiachu has been unexpectedly delayed until April 20th. Strange as amazing say it’s in stock. Guess I’ll just order both from Argos
I get "collect from 4 PM" and "Release date: 27 March 2018"

Also the product is called "Detectice Pikachu"

And now the next reservation is from Wednesday the 28th, is stock really low or are these selling fast?

i'm guessing it's to do with when it was ordered with amazon - hopefully they revise that delivery - mine arrived from amazon this morning - it's pretty big for an amiibo, i'm liking it

Same. Only bought a couple (and I was opening those so didnt care), but one had stickers all over it. I mean all over. The other looked like it had been used as a football

thanks a lot
Wow, this is a brilliant amiibo.
Aye mine just arrived, it's at least three times the size of a normal amiibo

To echo others - this is massive.

Love the textured details on his hat, the map detailing on the base is also cool.

Giant Pikachu is going to look very interesting when my daughter plays weddings with my Amiibo collection! She loves it.
Got mine today from Nintendo store. Much better price. Will warn this thing is huge.
Is there a Detective Pikachu game expected for Switch, or 3DS only?
I have misread the title. I though it said defective.

So far there is just the game and amiibo that were released this week on 3DS, the shorter 3DS game released in Japan last year, a short ebook (acting as a prequel to the game) and a live action movie adaption next year (with Ryan Reynolds as voice of Pikachu). No word of anything further for Switch or otherwise.

What a time to be alive!
How much will these be in 10 to 20 years time? Worth getting a few?

this do anything or is it just a figure?

It's an Amiibo, main use is for the Detective Pikachu 3DS game where it allows you to "view all the Pika Prompts you've seen or might have missed from the chapters you've already cleared". You'll need a "new" 3DSxl or 2DSxl which have an Amiibo reader build in, or use an external reader if you have an old 3ds.

Many games allow the use of loads of Amiibo for random stuff (unlock titles in Pokken DX, or some ingredients in Breath of the Wild), a list for this amiibo is here

Hi, I pre-ordered from Nintendo with paypal.

thanks to OP, I had bought and collected 2 with Argos for £14.99 each (surprise one with rough corners, and one in great condition without any sticker in the way). Great price.

My Nintendo order came the same day.

So I just requested Nintendo for return (refund) telling them the Argos price, Nintendo do not do price match but they would accept my return and refund marked as no longer needed. Nintendo sent me email attached with the return form/return number. However I need to contacted Nintendo within 14 days for refund.

I had posted it back for £3.85 postage (online post office signed for small parcel under 2 kg) and claim the postage with paypal (make sure you had joined the paypal free return postage scheme first, also read the terms as well). Paypal just confirm my claim is success and they would send me back the £3.85 within 5 days to my paypal account.

paypal free return postage scheme

I am now waiting for Nintendo refund. It is a bit work but I think it works well for me, maybe you could do that too.
