Anyone found any cheap soap for these yet?

wanted to know if you can refill with another soap

Anyone enlighten me as to the point of these things?

Ordinarily, you touch the soap pump that someone else has touched that might have bacteria on it.
Then what do you do? Yep, you wash your hands with the (probably anti-bacterial) soap that came out of the dispenser.
Nice and clean - until you touch the tap again and pick up all the bacteria you left on it when you turned it on!

What's the benefit?

Might be a good price, but its a product that plays on paranoia and just makes no sense!

You can use ANY soap, you just need to use the container which comes with the wash system.

I presume it uses batteries as well to power the sensor?

Another pointless use of resources like those mains plugin air fresheners!

even my six year old cant see the sense in these she even points out to the daft lady in the ad that she is going to wash her hands next LOL

Can re-fill, I use Dove to re-fill.

Are you prying the lid off or cutting a hole in the top?

errr, what's it got to do with cucumbers???

I have two of these.
Drilled a hole in the top of the container and plugged it with a brass screw from the local hardware store.

You are right about the tap issue, maybe an auto tap is the answer.
However there must be some benefit in having one less item touched when washing.
One of the reasons why I bought them was limited mobility, some members of the family were having difficulty with the pumps. These have helped a great deal.

My lid was well and truly stuck.
With this method, I don't need to remove the container from the machine.
I suspect the seal between the container and machine would wear out if removed and replaced many times.

Here we go again, a slanging match between those that do find them useful and those that dont. At the end of the day...its a bargain to those who use them...if you dont...put your energy into writing something positive on another post.

just prize the cap off with a blunt knife or screwdriver - easy!

How many times can you do that though before it buggers it?
