Why does anyone want to do the hot and cold separately with two different levers in a mixer tap when you could have just one? Isn’t it just a waste of time?

Got a dripping Aquadisc mixer kitchen tap (nearly 5 years old). Anyone actually got this fitted?... Any good?. After my many vain attempts I've threaded the cold valve 😣...Have to try and change myself . 1 review says silver chips off after 3 years!
