Interesting product and a great price. But this looks like it's only an extension as opposed to the complete system. Listing could do with being clearer.

Can someone kindly explain what this kit does and how it would benefit a home environment?

Thanks!

It appears it plugs into your existing router and then rather than using your WiFi bandwidth sends from base to satellite for such things as game systems, printers etc.
Anyone got or knows about this product? The ethernet ports appears to be as follows:

1 x 1000mb
4 x 100mb

can anyone confirm other?

I have a pair, they are quite good
The base unit has 1 x 1000 port and the receiver has 1 x 1000 and 4 x 100
I am using them to connect between two buildings with a fair bit of distance between then and two walls to go through
I get this...

It is good enough to stream four Yi security cameras from the remote site all at once.

When base and receiver placed In the same building between upstairs and downstairs, I was getting about 800Mbit/s
As with all WiFi - It does vary though depending on conditions.

These are a serious bargain considering they were £192 for the pair last week.

are both devices needed? Can I just use the "satellite" as access point connected with ethernet cable directly to the broadband modem/router?

These are incredible. I use them to wirelessly transmit full 4K from upstairs to downstairs. Transfer speed is about 80MB/s. They use a very fast 802.11ac 4x4 mimo backhaul to talk to each other. Problem with these though is that you can’t use the 802.11ac, it has only 1 x gigabit port on the satellite and it uses 2.4ghz 802.11n for the user.

What is the speed of the extension's 2.4ghz wifi?
450mbps theoretical.
