It's out of stock though, and was a clearance item, so not coming in again.
I know this, as I bought this 2-drill package back in February and the SDS drill has been used literally, 4 or 5 times, and the hub has gone 'off-centre'.When I tried to get a replacement\exchange unit, they can't fulfill it, so it's going back for a refund

Dont suppose someone wants to chuck in do they? I only want the cordless drill not the 600W percussion drill. Willing to go half's?

Don't you mean "Percussion drill not HAMMER", SDS only applies to the special chuck which allows bits to be quickly inserted and they don't slip

Lovely, been keeping an eye out for a decent drill, this will do nicely!

No it doesn't, SDS is a type of hammer, supposed to be better. Don't know the ins and outs of it myself though I must admit.

my diy knowledge is ****......

Is this drill any good simply for drilling small-ish holes around the house? i.e stairgates for kids, pictures on wall etc.......drilling through plaster and brick i would imagine....also whats sds??

am sure they had the sds plus and the cordless drill for under £100 in b&q anybody saw 1?

Yes it will be fine for that stuff, that's pretty much what it's main use for me is going to be, putting up shelves etc

Why say goldmax is wrong when you admit you don't know yourself..? Mad.

SDS (or actually SDS-Plus) is Bosch's proprietary system for quickly and easily fitting tools/bits by having indents on the tool/bit shafts which are held by the SDS chuck.

they'll come in a dewalt cardboard box.

Indeed it is, however I believe there is more to it than just the chuck, something to do with being able to strike a lot faster which makes it 'better' than a 'normal' hammer drill, hence my comment.

sds is the type of chuck on the drill

beware the cordless only has 2 batterys and takes an hour to charge, i use mine daily (plumber) and had to buy a decent makita on the end its prob ok for diy or very light use

The SDS drill is a drill with an enhanced hammer action that when compared to a conventional hammer drill is able to deliver hundreds of times the energy per hammer blow. To go with this it also has a different chuck design and special SDS drill bits to eliminate the possibility of bit slip, and also to withstand the force of its hammer action.

Wayhey, I had hoped I wasn't speaking outta my ass-crack

SDS (special drilling system) ONLY applies to the quick release chuck, nothing whatsoever to do with the hammer action, so stop guessing!

What you believe is up to you of course but as I said SDS is the chuck & tool/bit system developed by Bosch. And on some Bosch's you can remove the SDS chuck and fit a "normal" chuck then set the drill to non-hammer mode.

SDS is typically fitted to high power rotary/demolition hammers as the SDS chuck & tool/bit combination will (reputedly) provide more oomph than a 'normal' chuck & tool/bit. Maybe this is what you're thinking of..?

As for your comment, well, goldmax said it was the chuck and you said it wasn't. No offence but Bosch say SDS is the chuck & tool/bit system and they invented it so I'm sticking to that

Thanks looneyjetman, some people believe everything they find from a google search, but it wouldn't
stand up in court:) -take note Oliverbritt

sds is the chuck, nothing to do with making it move faster, whoever wrote that piece at diyfaq doesn't know what they are talking about
