Awesome price for a quality built to last drill..

Hot on price shame it's only 1.3Ah batteries.

Seriously under-powered batteries. Really only good for the most basic of tasks. Cold from me I'm afraid.

i got this deal when it was £200 well worth it as it has 2 li-ion 3.0ah batteries

its only underpowered in a capacity sense
1.3MAh are about the lowest capacity you can get....
Will be fine for occasional work tho but wont have enough staying power for extended use.

I suppose its like having a car with a really small petrol tank... you can still drive as fast but you can go less distance without a refill

cold for me. Guys get the one with li-ion batterys u wont be sorry . thats why the price is so cheap.

too heavy for a wimp like me, looking for an li ion 14.4v

Funnily enough, I got an email sent around work this morning about a recall on Dewalt cordless drills. This model seems OK though:

declanh is correct in that the 1.3Ah is a rating of capacity, not the actual power of the drill. I think JerrardM is a bit confused by this and that is why he thinks it will be "seriously underpowered".

The battery specification “Ah”, or Ampere-hours, is the capacity of the battery, not the amount of instantaneous current it can produce and therefore is not directly related to the power of the drill. As declanh says it's like the size of the fuel tank, and we know the size of a fuel tank on a car is not directly related to how big a caravan it can tow! But it does however make a difference as to how far it will go between refuelling.

So a 1.3Ah battery may not last all day, but hey, you get two of them and a fast charger so unless you are in the middle of a field with no mains supply then you just swap the batteries between drill and charger.

A larger capacity Ni-Cd battery would be physically larger and heavier. That’s why manufacturers have detachable batteries and chargers so one is always charging while you use the other. I'd rather have a lighter/smaller drill and a a spare battery than something with a bulky battery on it.

Dewalt make some great kit. This is a good deal. It's more than capable for most DIY tasks.

Most of these cheap low end small battery powered drills end up in an early drill graveyard........

spend half as much again for something decent with 3.0 or3.5aH .

I've had this drill (or similar DeWalt 18V) for three years now.
1.3A batteries last about half a day in fitting a kitchen and all day fitting curtains to brickwall.
Fantastic value!
I haven't used my corded drill since I bought this.
Anyone interested in a B&D corded, used but in great conditions :-)

Anyone know the 10% code? Want to order one for my son.

Is this drill powerfull enough to drill into masonry? My ancient B&D hammer drill can't cope with solid brick walls anymore.

Have model dc100ka drill stolen need a drill bare unit to fit batteries.
