82% discount!-must be a bargain. Heat added

Ridiculous RRP

This is a fantastic price for dewalt, I guess some will vote cold because they will compare the price of a dewalt with a stores own brand, like comparing a porsche and a hyundai I guess...

There is something screwy with the description

"- Exclusive Nano Phosphate Li-Ion battery pack provides 2000 charge cycles, more than double that of NiCd/NiMH packs
- Compatible with all DEWALT 18 Volt battery packs "

I think that is a red herring.... because it then says

"Battery Capacity Li-Ion 2.0 Ah (Except DC727N which is supplied WITHOUT Batteries)"

and then says it comes with NiCd batteries! How confusing.

If this was supplied with Li-Ion batteries then this would be a fantastic deal. But it isn't. Still seems a good price for this though if you can do with NiCad

Great manufacturer - jovial RRP.
Just think along the lines of "DFS summer sale" and you are well on your way...

Great price cos it comes with a couple of pretty meaty batteries, heat added.

nice find

You can get the DeWalt XRP DC988L1 18V Li-Ion Cordless Combi Drill off Screwfix for £150 with a 2Ah Li-Ion battery. Far better.

If you're happy with Ni-Cd then you can get the Site SMB810 18V Cordless Combi Drill for £80 with three batteries.

(If you don't know who Site are then shame on you for looking at drills. :P)

Who knows what you're getting here. Apart from the battery type mystery, there also isn't a 18V 727 on the UK Dewalt site.

wouldnt touch ni-cad batteries now. lithium ion all the way now!!! also dewalt are not as good as they used to be.... got to be makita all the way now.

Definately seems like a lucky dip as to what would turn up on your doorstep

Uhhh....Dewalt isn't up there with Makita, bad analergy.

If you ignore the contradictions in the description and look at the list of contents you'll see that the batteries have the 'DE9096' part number which is for a NiCd battery.

Always been overpriced IMO. I agree about the Makita's, much better quality.

Nobody paid £605 for this. It is a good price for a solid consumer drill, but even pro range drills do not cost £600.

dewalt is crap now, they used to be the best

I've got the 36v Li-Ion drill and saw and there's nothing that could touch it

Totaly agree dewalt used to be good but makita has overtaken them in quality. Now part of black and decker group so probably wont get any better.

If these ar Ni-Cad Batts then I wouldn't touch this deal with a barge-pole..Cold for me

I wouldn't go anywhere near this. De-walt batteries leave me cold and flat. I'm with the others here who know that Makita make far better kit, especially imho, drills and drivers. If you're into diy and a bit of a brand **** then I guess it's attractive but if you're in the game, you should know better.

Indeed, we're also adding another Lithium battery for another £99.99 when bought with that drill, bringing the whole package up to £249.99
proven very popular actually

quote]Uhhh....Dewalt isn't up there with Makita, bad analergy.[/quote]

comical statement, dewalt is still the best, there are cheaper models out but even they still are very good, i have a makita at home and use dewalt and makita at work and dewalt wins hands down, if i needed my drill at home for more heavy duty use i would buy this.

Dewalt is Just black & Decker the factory is just down the road from me (spennymoor) both black and decker and dewalt come out the same building - obviously Dewalt has a much better build standard though.
I allways have a giggle on sites when u see what we call "hollywood" builders or especially joiners who insist on everything being Dewalt even there boots and trousers - fashion victims!

Cracks me up when people say this as if Black and Decker has only just acquired DeWalt...DeWalt has been part of Black and Decker since the mid 60s.

Audi and VW.....Lexus and Toyota....

just because they come out of the same factory doesnt mean anything really...
