This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Similar to another deal on here, this time with 2 × 3Ah batteries for £129.99 instead of 1 x 2ah battery for £99.99. Also comes with charger and Tstak box to keep it all neat. Good DIY drill and handy with the extra battery to swop in and out! Easy pick up and good return follow up service if needed from screwfix! The email I got said this was £70 off original price but doesnt say that on the website so didnt want to put in as an official saving! Check out the website for details.

Is 3Ah make it more power than a 2Ah?
In theory it doesnt make the drill more powerful in use it's just the run time i.e. 50% longer battery life per battery. But according to some youtube videos, apparently the larger ah batteries can provide more power. Even if it did provide slightly more power, I can imagine its negligible between a 2ah and 3ah battery.
I’d generally avoid Screwfix special power tools. As the models aren’t standard they tend to be of poorer quality and uneconomical to repair

batteries are standard I’m talking internals of the drill

I know this was a thing in the past but I'm not sure they still operate this way but correct me if I'm wrong! In the past companies would source a specific product at a price point or as a set to sell which was specific to that retailer only, so sometimes the quality wasnt as good as a manufacturer's standard line as it was made to a price and not really recognised by the manufacturer as their product line, but I would be very surprised if the DCD778 advertised on the dewalt website would have different internals to the one screwfix sells? This is the dewalt service website: service.dewalt.co.uk/DEW…300
Brushless motor and 65nm of torque = good price in the bewildering range of battery size and specifications available these days. Regularly get a £10 off over £60 voucher, would make it a very good deal.
In something like a drill or impact driver a nice light 2a/h battery is fine and lasts for hours. I restrict my 4a\h to circular saw and angle grinder.
I bought the DCD996 naked last week for £103,didn't need batteries or charger as I have the impact gun kit....makes the lesser models look and feel like toys tbh,3 speed+built in work light+all metal ratchet chuck+more powerful
@95Nm torque...glad I bought it.

The price is coming up at £199.99 for the kit shown.

There was 20 quid in the price between the 2 speed 700 series and the 996....both good drills,just went for the 996 as it was a fairly good price and i didn't need batteries....might try a smaller copy battery sometime for less weight as mine are both 5 ah although its not overly heavy.

I think you do get used to the weight after a while and on the drill it almost seems to balance better! Currently in the middle of a house referb and have accumulated a good number of the 18v range over time. Started out with 2ah batteries with the 795 which was fine with most of the tools, but when I got the grinder it just ate them like no tomorrow, so invested in some 5 ah myself. The oscillating tool has paid for itself in awkward situations numerous times over! I'm looking out for a good deal on the DCW210 palm sander now too, and possibly to replace my corded router with the 18v version but haven't heard many reviews, as much as I love the range, I'm not 100% convinced the router will be good enough to replace the 240v.....
