Dcd709D2 from Toolstation for £100 is better deal.

DeWalt model numbers are a bit out of whack. Their is dcd7xx dcd8xx and dcd9xx so 3 ranges in the drills.

But in there they mix XR and atomic models. Atomic is smaller and less powerful, but the more recent atomic models are often more powerful than the XR models now, so you have to really read the sheets. You also need to pair them with certain batteries to get the full power out of them.

    - Dcd709 (atomic)
    - Dcd796
    - Dcd805 (atomic) (needs 5ah or powerstack battery to get full power)
    - Dcd996
    - Dcd999 (same as 996 unless you use a v54 Flexvolt battery)

No drill is better than the other (unless you compare brushed Vs brushless), it's a balance of power, weight and size.

I have 709 and 996, and honestly the 709 is powerful enough for everything so far.

Above are all hammer drill models, but if you want to drill concrete not the odd brick, get an SDS drill like dch133 (edited)

I think the Toolstation one has a charger too:

    • Includes 2x 2.0Ah XR batteries, charger, belt hook and TSTAK carry case

What would it be used for? Polishing? You'd probably want one with a big battery primarily, not sure you'd need a lot of torque.
