no they have the dcd996 which is their top of the line. This is the older one, still brushless and decent specs better than the one screwfix sell which is dewalts cheapest brushless drill!

The DCD796 replaced the DCD795 so in it's the latest in that respect. The DCD996 is a better drill but not a replacement for the DCD796.
Great drill. I have this exact one albeit with just one 4.0amh battery - which is more than capable. Used it to construct a good sized fence over 2 days and didn't need a recharge. I am very impressed.

So the dcd796 is the compact range i see, there isnt much in the size difference though tbh so I'd rather go for the dcd996 as it is their newest most powerful combi drill. I expect new releases from makita and dewalt soon considering how recently milwaukee updated their drills.

Packs a punch this
Around £80 naked if you already have the batteries with another Dewalt tool.

The 996 is heavier and not so compact. It's basically their top end yes and more aimed at professional/construction trade people. The 796 is their best compact combi to date.

This is true.

It's more the weight as the 996 is their heavy duty drill aimed at tradesmen. This drill is ideal for light trade and diy.

I'm not so sure Dewalt will bring out replacements as there isn't exactly any new tech that surpasses brushless or Li-ion. I guess their flexi volt system is the newest tech, but that is way too expansive for me.

I have the DCD796 and I haven't found anything it can't cope with yet. It's a great drill for DIY. I bought mine for £72.50 from UK Planet Tools. I also prefer the 2ah batteries, paired with a DCB118 charger they only take 30 minutes to charge.
